Urgent action needed to rein in ICE, ICE is breaking the law, NO MORE MONEY FOR DHS AGENCIES UNTIL PROPOSED REFORMS ARE MADE LAW 18MAI26

 

DHS' ice, hsi and cbp gestapo are still terrorizing the nation with their violent thuggish gang tactics across the country. The "leadership" has has changed but the evil remains the same putting everyone who is unfortunate enough to have any interaction with them fearing their civil liberties, US constitutional rights and their human rights will be violated and they may lose their life. Democrats and a few Republicans have defied the corrupt drumpf / trump-vance administration and the majority of the gop / greed over people-republican party by refusing to pass funding for ice until the proposed reforms ( • Stop the rampant racial profiling, the warrantless stops and arrests, the roving patrols, and the detention of toddlers and children • Enforce actual accountability for abuse by immigration agents – including real limits on use of force and surveillance of protesters and rules that allow victims to hold federal agents who injure them accountable in court • Mandate agents identify themselves, take off their masks, wear and use body cameras, and ensure that footage is available for investigations and accountability ) are instituted. republicans in congress are attempting to fund dhs agencies through reconciliation, but those attempts have also failed as the house and senate have not passed identical reconciliation legislation. Please sign the ACLU's letter to the US House demanding no funding for dhs, including by reconciliation, until the proposed reforms are instituted on these dhs agencies. It will also help if you e mail your representative and senators, my e mails will be at the end of this post.

Today kicks off a week of voting where Congress will mark up, debate, and vote on a bill to give $70 billion more to ice and Border Patrol with no strings attached. This isn't a drill. Without our immediate action, ice and Border Patrol will continue brutalizing our communities with no accountability. Tell your representatives to vote no on any new money for ice and Border Patrol without major reforms. Take Action Here's a reminder of what's at stake: Federal agents have shot and killed people in the street, including Renee Good and Alex Pretti, with no legal consequences ice agents have used pepper spray and tear gas against children as young as one year old Hundreds of reports from people detained have revealed horrifying sexual and physical violence against immigrants ice is still spending taxpayer dollars to lock people in overcrowded detention centers known for medical neglect and denial of basic legal rights This year alone, at least 18 people have died in ice custody Our elected officials' votes this week will decide where this country goes with immigration enforcement – whether we finally rein in the abuse perpetrated by these federal agencies, or if we give a green light to continued racial profiling, violence against children and families, and an all-out human rights catastrophe for immigrants and anyone in ice custody. We cannot afford inaction at such a critical moment. Will you join us in demanding Congress refuse any money to ice and Border Patrol without serious reform?
