HSBC LAUNDERED MONEY FOR DRUG CARTELS AND TERRORIST STATES & GROUPS, SEE THE VIDEO OF SEN WARREN CONFRONTING THE SEC 10MAR13

SEN Elizabeth Warren D MA continues her questioning of SEC regulators on their unwillingness to shut down banks that blatantly violate the laws on money laundering for drug cartels and terrorist states and organizations. One of my Senator's, Tim Kaine D VA, also sits on the Senate Banking Committee, and it seems that is all he does, sit on the committee. I wish he had the moral courage Sen Warren does. Watch this video, and click the link to sign the petition calling on the SEC to bring these banks to trial. For more on this see my earlier post TO BIG TO JAIL? In a Senate hearing this week, Elizabeth Warren grilled a Treasury official about a major Wall Street bank (HSBC) that was caught laundering money for Al Quaeda and drug cartels -- repeatedly -- and only got a slap on the wrist.
In the video, it's clear that bank regulators aren't used to being told to go harder on the banks. We'll soon deliver your signature (and thousands of others) to the SEC demanding banks be brought to trial.
PCCC members can be proud that we worked so hard to elect Elizabeth Warren last year.
As you know, Warren previously grilled the top SEC official, who admitted they have no idea when they last took a bank to trial. This week, Warren underscored a core point:
"If you're caught with an ounce of cocaine, the chances are good that you're going to go to jail...but evidently if you launder nearly a billion dollars for drug cartels, your company pays a fine and you go home and sleep in your own bed at night. I think that's fundamentally wrong."
Thanks for being a bold progressive.

Wall Street's worst nightmare comes true!!! Sources: Elizabeth Warren to Banking Committee 4DEZ12

ANOTHER victory for the American people, Elizabeth Warren will serve on the US Senate Banking Committee!!!! Thanks to all who participated in the campaign to move Sen Harry Reid to make this appointment happen. Here's my earlier post on the campaign Tell Harry Reid; Don't block Elizabeth Warren from the Senate Banking Committee 1DEZ12 http://bucknacktssordidtawdryblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/tell-harry-reid-dont-block-elizabeth.html

Another victory for Elizabeth Warren.
The last thing Wall Street wanted to happen was Elizabeth Warren getting into the Senate. That happened, so then the fight moved to keeping her out of their way. It appears that their worst nightmare is about to happen: she's in the Senate, and she's going to be in a position of real power over them. The Huffington Post's Ryan Grim is reporting that sources have told him that Warren has secured a key committee assignment.
Nearly two years after Wall Street waged a successful campaign to keep consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren from running the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the incoming senator will be tapped to serve on the Banking Committee, according to four sources familiar with the situation. It's a victory for progressives who battled to win her a seat on the panel that oversees the implementation of Dodd-Frank and other banking regulations.
There are very few people in Washington, D.C. who have a deeper understanding of the financial world than Warren, and basically none who have the passion to use that knowledge for good, to protect Main Street rather than Wall Street. She can light a fire, and educate, other Senators on the committee to make financial reform real. This is real change. 8:36 AM PT: Please sign our thank you to Sen. Harry Reid for helping to make this happen.
