WHILE we are not as bad as many states in the deep South there is still a disturbing increase in Covid-19 cases in our Commonwealth and there is the risk of the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic exploding in Virginia.  We can not ignore the risk, we must practice physical/social distancing, we must wear mask. Virginia sees 1,505 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 86,072 statewide

There are now 2,082 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – There are now 86,072 cases of the coronavirus in Virginia as of July 27.
Monday’s total of 86,072 marks an increase from Sunday’s total of 84,567 cases.
Here is a breakdown of the 1,505 new cases in Virginia:
  • 194 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 151 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 122 new cases in Prince William County
  • 95 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 94 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 81 new cases in Henrico County
  • 50 new cases in Newport News and Richmond
  • 43 new cases in Hampton
  • 40 new cases in Alexandria
  • 36 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 34 new cases in Suffolk
  • 31 new cases in Lynchburg
  • 24 new cases in Portsmouth
  • 22 new cases in Danville
  • 21 new cases in Pittsylvania County
  • 19 new cases in Spotsylvania County
  • 17 new cases in Stafford County
  • 16 new cases in Arlington County
  • 15 new cases in Campbell County and Montgomery County
  • 13 new cases in Roanoke, Albemarle County, Charlottesville, James City County and Petersburg
  • 12 new cases in Hanover County
  • 11 new cases in Greene County
  • 10 new cases in Isle of Wight County

  • 1 new case in Prince George County, Frederick County, Tazewell County, Smyth County, Westmoreland County, Shenandoah County, Bristol, Mecklenburg County, Colonial Heights, Covington, Waynesboro, Caroline County, Page County, Powhatan County, Poquoson, Nelson County, Clarke County and Norton
  • Richmond County decreased by 6 cases
As of Sunday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 1,137,415 total testing encounters.
The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
