August 10, 2012 Olympic boxing seems to know that its scoring is weird, its fan base eroding, and its status as an Olympic sport is coming into question. They can address some of those problems by using stronger math to decide who wins close bouts.

Women's Olympic Soccer Final: U.S. Beats Japan 2-1, To Win Gold(33)  (58)

American Carli Lloyd heads in a goal in the first half to put the U.S. up 1-0 against Japan in the Olympic gold medal match.
August 9, 2012 The U.S. women's soccer team has won their third consecutive gold medal in the Olympics. They defeated Japan at London's Wembley Stadium, in a game that set a new attendance record of more than 80,000 spectators.

U.S. boxer Claressa Shields (left) lands a punch on Nadezda Torlopova of Russia during the women's boxing middleweight final at the ExCel Arena in London. Shields, 17, won the first-ever gold medal in the event.
August 9, 2012 She's still in high school, but boxer Claressa Shields is also an Olympic gold medalist, as she won her middleweight bout Thursday. She defeated Russia's Nadezda Torlopova by a score of 19-12, overcoming the Russian with both speed and power.
