The Attorney General of Virginia has received a request from Mitt Romney's presidential campaign to "investigate"
the voter registration applications of more than 15,000 Virginians—many who are people of color, young people, and
single women. But it's up to the Virginia State Board of Elections to decide whether that "investigation" happens.1
The State Board of Elections, which oversees all aspects of voting and elections, must not buckle under pressure from
the Romney campaign. That's why we're submitting our own "Citizens' Complaint" to the Board. We need a
massive public outcry to make sure that it doesn't deny these legitimately, legally registered voters access to the polls.

Here's what's happened: A nonpartisan group called the Voter Participation Center found an effective method of registering
voters from Virginia communities that vote at historically low rates. The VPC got permission from the Virginia State Board
of Elections to mail these people registration forms with some basic information, like name and address, already
filled in. Recipients who were eligible could then register to vote by completing the form and mailing it in. It's simple,
and it works.
But now Mitt Romney is calling those lawful registrations into question, demanding a sham investigation into every single
voter registration form submitted in the last two months. Virginia's State Board of Elections must not acquiesce
to these demands. They need to hear from Virginia voters that every voter's right to lawfully register must be protected.

Republicans across the country have put in place policies that make it harder for millions of Americans to vote.2 Their
motivation is not a secret—they're doing it so Mitt Romney wins in November. In Pennsylvania, GOP House Majority Leader
Mike Turzai said his state's super-restrictive voter-ID law will "allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania."3
The Virginia State Board of Elections must now allow the Romney campaign, or any outside political forces, to bully it into
a sham investigation or throwing out valid voter registration forms. Add your voice to this "Citizens' Complaint"
and help protect voting rights in Virginia.
Thanks for all you do.
