About 45 minutes ago, the Republican-controlled House voted against raising taxes on the following:
- Themselves;
- Their friends in the Senate;
- Everyone like Bernie Madoff;
- Rich lobbyists;
- CEOs of the biggest banks in the country;
- All the Fortune 500 CEOs who make on average 380 times more than regular Americans;
- Warren Buffett (net worth: $44 billion), friend George Soros (net worth: $20 billion) and other billionaires;
- Mitt Romney;
- The 400,000 people in the country who make more than a million a year;
- 200 Patriotic Millionaires who SPECIFICALLY ASKED TO PAY HIGHER TAXES.
All the bottom-feeding Republicans (except for Timothy Johnson from Illinois) and 19 bottom-feeding Democrats (full list with phone numbers below) just voted to bankrupt our country; lower our credit rating; fire our food inspectors, air traffic controllers, firefighters, and policemen; destroy our education system, starve our poor, and generally ensure that all future generations of Americans are worse off than their parents were.
These are the SAME dirtbags who are freaking out about the deficit and tearing their hair out about old people and their ‘entitlements’ (I mean, oh the HORROR of an 80 year old widow who worked her whole life, who lives in the richest country in the world having the audacity to believe she is entitled to health insurance... entitled to put Ramen noodles on the table – what nerve, what arrogance).
These pond scum just voted to INCREASE the deficit they feign to despise IN ORDER TO make sure that Kim Kardashian has enough cash for another boob job.
Dirt bag politicians (forgive the redundancy) with their drivers, their “staffs”, their fancy offices on Capitol Hill and their ironic titles (Honorable???? Are they KIDDING??) just screwed everyone.
And they are going to use a bunch of lies to justify their crap decision. To be clear:
They defend this decision with the same tired argument: raising taxes on the wealthy hurts jobs. But the rich DO NOT create jobs. As any basic economic textbook will tell you, DEMAND creates jobs. And what creates demand? Ordinary citizens who have money to spend.
But Americans currently don’t. In almost every sector of every industry, we’re bleeding jobs. The Wall Street Journal called the last ten years of family incomes “the Lost Decade.” And real wages for most Americans, despite increased productivity, remain stagnant.
Tax revenues as a percentage of GDP are the lowest they’ve been in 50 years and corporate tax levels the lowest in decades. Yet for the first time in history, the United States’ credit rating was downgraded: explicitly because Congress couldn’t come up with a financial plan to “stabilise the government.”
But House Republicans would rather run out the clock, destroy our credit, put more Americans out of work, swell the deficit, let states go bankrupt, and run off a fiscal cliff rather than raise multi-millionaires and multi-billionaires’ tax rate from 35 to 39 percent.
And if that wasn’t enough, we have a Republican presidential contender who would lower that rate even more, while simultaneously raising taxes on 95% of Americans, making the possibility of eliminating the debt “mathematically impossible.”
That’s the state of the country, and these are the assholes running it. This is lunacy. And it needs to stop.
Thanks,
ep
