Harry Reid slams Koch brothers & VIDEO Harry Reid doubles down on Koch criticism 26FEB14

THE koch brothers are evil. They are greedy and they are liars and they are behind the massive propaganda campaign attacking Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act. The don't give a damn about the common American, their goal is amass as much money and power as they can for their own benefit because they feel they are entitled to it. At least Sen Majority leader Harry Reid D NV isn't afraid of them, and isn't afraid to challenge their lies in public. Check out the documentary on david and charles koch, The Koch Brothers: Exposed, and search for more post on the koch brothers on this blog. From Daily Kos.....

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) speaks to the media after a caucus meeting with Senate Democrats on Capitol Hill in Washington August 1, 2011.
Harry Reid isn't going to turn the Senate over to the Koch brothers without a fight.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid accused the billionaire Koch brothers of having “no conscience” and spreading lies about Obamacare through political ads. Americans for Prosperity, a group backed by Charles and David Koch, is spending millions attacking vulnerable Democrats for their Obamacare support using “horror stories” that are untrue, Reid said on Wednesday.
“The Koch brothers are spending hundreds of millions of dollars telling Americans that Obamacare is bad for them. It’s easy to do if you have no conscience and are willing to lie like they are, through the ads they’re promoting. But the Kochs should stick to what they know: The oil business … where they’ve made their multi-billions of dollars,” Reid said.
The Koch brothers' response? Of course Charles and David Koch aren't personally responsible for the ads the astroturf organizations they wholly fund run, and also too, Harry Reid is a bad person. Misdirection alert! “It is disgraceful that Senator Reid and his fellow Democrats are attacking a cancer victim as part of their campaign against Charles Koch and David Koch,” says Koch spokesman. Since the Kochs don't actually want to answer to the fact that they're lying in their ads, they play the cancer victim card. A cancer victim who, by the way, would lose all the protections she just received from the Affordable Care Act if the Koch brothers get their way. Reid can take heart in the fact, however, that the Koch's have a lack of sense to go with their lack of conscience. With AFP, they spent $122 million in 2012 to get the law repealed. The $27 million spent as of February 4 in this cycle is just spending good money after bad. Their crusade for repeal is an increasingly losing cause.

Harry Reid doubles down on Koch criticism

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had a few things to say about the Koch brothers and the false campaign ads they're running around the country in Senate races. After some more thought, Reid decided he had a lot more to say:
"What is going on with these two brothers who made billions of dollars last year in an attempt to buy our democracy is does honest, deceptive, false and unfair. Just because you have huge amounts of money you should not be able to run these false, misleading ads by the hundreds of millions of dollars. They hide behind all kinds of entities," Reid said. "It's not just their front organization, Americans For Prosperity. But they give money to all kinds of organizations, lots of money. You see, when you make billions of dollars a year you can be as immoral and dishonest as your money will allow you to be. It's too bad that they're trying to buy America and it's time that the American people spoke out against this terrible dishonesty of these two brothers, who are about as un-American as anyone that I can imagine."
Democrats are recognizing a salient fact: people don't like the idea that a couple of billionaire brothers think they can buy a government. So they're specifically running against that big money and the Koch brothers. They're responding to the ads the Kochs are running in Michigan by pointing out that they are trying to buy a Senate seat. Which is exactly what they're trying to do.

ARE THE KOCH BROTHERS DENYING YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE? 8NOV11

THE koch brothers continue their assault on American civil liberties with the intent of destroying our Republic and creating a Third World plutocracy. This from Brave New Foundation on voter restrictions and the petition drive calling on Attorney General Eric Holder to invoke the 1965 Voting Rights Act and stop these new restrictions on voting. Of special note, the citizens of Maine rejected the state government's repeal of election day voter registration and restored that right on 8NOV11. WAY TO GO MAINE VOTERS!!!!

Dear Craig,
For the past 8 months we have been investigating the billionaire Koch brothers and presenting the results of their political influence to you. With this latest installment, we have discovered what we think is their worst offense yet. Through their web of financial influence, Charles and David Koch are buying access to democracy's lifeblood: free and fair elections. They are literally trying to take away your right to vote!
We are partnering with about one dozen organizations and launching a campaign to demand Attorney General Eric Holder enforce the landmark Voting Rights Act and stop discriminatory voter suppression laws.
With a stroke of his pen, Attorney General Holder can stop the Kochs and these Jim Crow laws, which are denying voting rights for disabled individuals, students, seniors and people of color. Under a provision in the 1965 Voting Rights Act, Holder can deny states like Florida, South Carolina and others from imposing new voter restrictions.
Your contribution allowed us to produce this video. Thank you for helping to inspire people to stand up for democracy. Demand the Department of Justice live up to its name and enforce the law.
They've got the heart of American democracy in their sights. Let's defeat the Kochs and defend the democratic process.
Thank you for making this possible,

CANCER RISK FOR KOCH PROFITS from BRAVE NEW FOUNDATION 13OKT11

BRAVE NEW FOUNDATION exposes the koch brothers AGAIN!!!! Check out the video report from The Young Turks and BNF, and try not to by georgia-pacific products......
Our second victory comes after the release of "EXPOSED: Koch Industries and Cancer Risks." Through our webpage, more than 2,400 people left comments to show solidarity with Mr. Bouie and his neighbors, who have been tragically afflicted by Koch Industries. Mr. Bouie along with Cheryl Slavant of Louisiana Environmental Action Network will confront the Koch brothers with the thousands of messages posted by activists. With communities like West Crossett dying, we can no longer afford to let the Kochs buy their way out of environmental responsibility. Your support, coupled with unprecedented press coverage, is putting pressure on the Koch Brothers and policy makers who can make this right.
These two videos have garnered more than 113,000 views. Our impact would not be possible without your dedication and donations to this investigation. See how you are shifting the narrative by checking out other press from this release.

Why do the Koch brothers want to end public education? & How the Koch Brothers Funded Public-School Segregation 19 & 15AUG11

THE koch brothers are evil. Only evil people would work to destroy a school system that does what a school system is supposed to do, educate all the community's children equally. The Wake County, N.C. public school system does that very well, in racially and economically diverse schools. The koch brothers are evil because they tried to destroy this through their proxy organization americans for prosperity which lead a campaign of deception, manipulation and fear mongering propaganda to gain control of the Wake County School Board and then begin the dismantling of a very successful public school system. Only the strength and resolve of a majority of the residents, students and teachers protesting at school board meetings as well as the threat of lawsuits and calls for the federal government to investigate has stopped the afp and koch brothers plans. The Brave New Foundation has documented what the koch brothers are trying to do in Wake County. Check out the video and linked articles and donate to BNF if you can, at the least share this with others so the koch brothers attacks on our public education system are exposed.

We got them! With your help, we got the Kochs and we got them good. Our latest video about the Koch brothers' fight against public education earned 60,000 views so far. It was played on MSNBC and was written about everywhere from Mother Jones to the Raleigh News & Observer. These and other press clip links are below.
Now the Koch-supported Tea Party group, Americans for Prosperity, is telling reporters that it has pending legal action against us. Will you counter the Kochs' billions and donate $20 to help our efforts?
We drew the Kochs' ire as soon as our video went live and these reporters started making calls. Americans for Prosperity quickly flooded reporters' inboxes with litigation threats and retraction demands. When asked for their side of the story by news organizations, Americans for Prosperity's Dallas Woodhouse told journalists there is pending legal action against us.
We can't withstand the Kochs without you.

How the Koch Brothers Funded Public-School Segregation

By Andy Kroll
http://motherjones.com/mojo/2011/08/koch-brothers-school-segregation-americans-prosperity

[UDPATE: In an August 16 letter to Brave New Foundation Robert Greenwald, Dallas Woodhouse, Americans for Prosperity's North Carolina state director, attacked the premise of Greenwald's film, saying it "falsely claims" AFP was involved in the 2009 Wake County school board elections. Woodhouse asserts that AFP "did not spend a single dime on those elections" nor did it engage in any get-out-the-vote or voter education efforts. "AFP played no role in the 2009 WCPSS election," Woodhouse asserts. Read his full response.
In its response to AFP, Brave New Foundation stood by its story. BNF pointed to several statements of AFP-NC's in support of its claims, including a 2008 blog post of Woodhouse's saying AFP-NC "is on record as supporting the parents of WakeCARES, through significant financial contributions as well as other support." In the fall of 2009, WakeCARES endorsed the four school board candidates who opposed Wake County's busing policy, and a former AFP-NC director later credited WakeCARES with paving the way for the four candidates' victories. BNF alleged AFP "funneled" financial support to the candidates through Art Pope, a wealthy Raleigh businessman and an AFP national director, who gave more than $15,000 to the Wake GOP which in turn spent nearly all of its political donations in 2009 on backing the four conservative school board candidates. AFP-NC's Woodhouse also told Newsweek in January that his group did voter education and mobilized volunteers for the school board election.]
At first glance, the billionaire libertarian Koch brothers and the Wake County, North Carolina, school board couldn't be more disparate. Charles and David Koch, the brains behind the massive Koch Industries conglomerate and the funders of so many right-wing political causes, are national figures, credited with (or accused of, depending on your political persuasion) launching the tea party movement and waging war on the Obama administration and its agenda. The Wake County public school board is, well, just that.
In reality, there are deep connections between the Kochs and Wake County, and it's all about the money. The latest installment in the left-leaning Brave New Foundation's "Koch Brothers Exposed" video series reveals how a Koch-founded and funded outfit, Americans for Prosperity, fueled a campaign to "resegregate" the schools of Wake County, a prosperous area in central North Carolina that's home to the cities of Raleigh and Cary, among others.
The story starts back in 2009, when elections were held for four of Wake County's nine school board seats—enough seats to dictate the public school district's agenda if all four board members wanted the same reforms. That's where Americans for Prosperity, a conservative political advocacy group, came into play. AFP swooped in to fund and organize on behalf of four candidates who sought to kill the district's policy of busing to ensure diverse, desegregated public schools. The AFP-backed candidates ran against what they called "forced busing"—a phrase, the film points out, that dates back to George Wallace in the 1970s—and instead stressed that schools should educate only those who lived in the surrounding neighborhood.
Local reporters, some of whom are interviewed in the film, connected the push to eliminate busing with the philosophies of AFP and its funders. "They're definitely pushing an agenda to resegregate these schools, but there's also a real push toward privatization," Sue Sturgis of the Institute for Southern Studies says in the film.
In the end, all four AFP-backed candidates won, and the school board has since begun to roll back its existing busing policies despite a wave of protest and outrage in the local community.
Robert Greenwald, president of Brave New Films, says he and his team zeroed in on the Wake County schools controversy as a way to illustrate just how powerful monied interests can be at the local level. "The fact that millionaires can put hundreds of thousands of dollars into a local election and essentially deprive people of their rights, in many ways, and mess with their school system," he says. "It seems to us one of the strongest examples of the really incredible way money takes away our democracy."
You can watch the video in its entirety above.

Liberal Group’s Video Assails Koch Brothers & The Kochs are Buying our Democracy. 4&5MAI11

THE koch brothers EXPOSED!!!! These are two of the greediest, evil people in America.....This from the New York Times and The Brave New Foundation....And check out the expose on the koch brothers from The New Yorker added to the tea-bagger, right-wing fanatics page on this blog.

The liberal guerrilla video group Brave New Foundation on Wednesday began what it says will be a prolonged political attack against the industrialist Koch family, which has become synonymous with the anti-Obama conservative movement.
The campaign marks yet another step toward conspicuousness for a family whose political activity was largely in the shadows until last year, when a New Yorker article outlined the support David H. Koch and his brother Charles ave given to various conservative research institutes and groups, including some associated with the Tea Party movement.
The campaign is going right to where the Kochs live, literally. A Brave New Foundation crew filmed outside five of the Kochs’ multimillion-dollar homes: in Manhattan; Southampton, N.Y.; Aspen, Colo; Palm Beach, Fla.; and Wichita, Kan.
In the first video, being released Wednesday night, the crews knock on the doors of all five properties, seeking to question David Koch directly about his policy positions and the environmental record of his company, Koch Industries. At one point, a group of elderly people picnics on the beach in front of David Koch’s Palm Beach mansion to marvel at its size while saying the policies he supports punish the working class.
“We’re putting a face on what the ideology means — what the hyperrich, billionaire ideology means,” said Robert Greenwald, the president and founder of Brave New Foundation, based in Culver City, Calif.
The Koch brothers declined to comment on the campaign through a spokesman.
Mr. Greenwald, a longtime Hollywood producer, said that he hoped to release up to eight “investigative” videos and other shorter ones, and that he had assembled a team of 15 people, including 3 to research the Kochs and their activities full time, and others to film and edit the videos and then to distribute them (the campaign has a Web site, Koch Brothers Exposed, and related Facebook and Twitter pages).
The Kochs have expressed displeasure with the new attention they have received since the New Yorker article was published. Earlier this week, The New York Post reported that a representative for Koch Industries had sent a letter of complaint to the American Society of Magazine Editors, saying the article, by the writer Jane Mayer, should not be considered for the National Magazine Award. And in an interview in March, David Koch told our colleague Michael Cooper that his philanthropic giving — for cancer research; education and the arts — far outpaced his political giving, joking, “I read stuff about me and I say, ‘God, I’m a terrible guy.’ ”
Like many of the Koch-financed groups, Brave New Foundation is formed under a section of the tax code — 501(c)(3) — that allows it to keep its donors secret. Asked if he would disclose their names, Mr. Greenwald said there were 3,000 small-dollar donors, nearly 2,500 of whom are named as producers on the Web site (the rest gave less than $25 and didn’t qualify as producers). He said the list of large donors included Karen Lieberman (who gave $1,500 through the Leif Nissen Foundation), Dan Berger (who gave $25,000), Adelaide Gomer (who gave $25,000), Marlene Share (who gave $3,000), and the television producer Norman Lear (who gave $1,000). Mr. Greenwald said that left one last donor who gave a similar amount but whom he had not had a chance to speak with about going public.
Mr. Greenwald said he had no qualms about dispatching film crews to the Kochs’ homes. “Anybody who gives hundreds of millions of dollars to affect our democracy should take the heat that comes with those efforts to affect policy,” he said.
The Koch brothers had plenty of places to party after their triumphs last November. They might’ve celebrated at any one of their multiple homes in five states worth a total of $105.9 million.
And that’s not including the Koch’s two-story single family home that David Koch bought for his children as a play house.
The billionaire brothers who brought you Tea Party groups like Americans for Prosperity and anti-worker governors like Scott Walker and John Kasich are also using their billions to attack some of the most vulnerable Americans who had the audacity to fall on hard times.
The Kochs are Buying our Democracy.

We went on offense to make this video. We went right up to the Kochs' doorsteps to ask, Why are you spending millions to try and buy our democracy? The New York Times heard about our camera crews and published an exclusive about Koch Brothers Exposed and what we're trying to achieve.
Watch what happens, then add your voice to our movement by posting a picture, caption or both to the Koch brothers house party.
Tell them we are not for sale.
Yours,
Robert Greenwald
and the Brave New Foundation team
