I remember being condemned by some, even by some in my family, because after the U.S. invaded Iraq I knew we had lost the war in Afghanistan because we would not be committed to winning that battle. The Afghan war had to be kept going though in an attempt to justify the illegal and immoral war in Iraq as being part of the war against terror. Thousands of American troops, tens of thousands of Afghani civilians and troops have been sacrificed on this perverse alter of propaganda on the demands of the American military-industrial complex and president after president, with congress and the leadership of both political parties made it so.
