Sign the petition: Trump's latest $200 million vanity project 9AUG25

NOT MY pres drumpf / trump has already shown what low class trash he is with all the gaudy gold in the oval office, the paving of the rose garden, his giant flag poles giving the grounds that car dealership / truck stop look and his plans for the ballroom addition. There is no way we can let him defile Mount Rushmore with his mug shot added. AND, those who know the specifics about stone carving have already repeatedly said there just isn't room for another face carving there. Still, drumpf / trump will use his magat cultist to pressure the Dept of Interior and the Park Service to add him to this historic site even at the risk of damaging or destroying it. If he wants that type of self-aggrandising monument he can have his mug shot added to Stone Mountain in Georgia, he'll fit in there with all the other traitors. Please sign this petition from Demand Progress to Congress to prevent drumpf / trump from being added to Mount Rushmore and e mail your representative and senators telling them to stop this from happening. My e mails to congress will be at the endo of this post.

TELL CONGRESS: Trump's new vanity project is a $200 million White House ballroom. He just cemented over the Rose Garden and pressured the Smithsonian to remove an exhibit about his two impeachments — a blatant move to control and rewrite history. And his loyalists are pushing to get his face on Mount Rushmore. Sign the petition: Oppose Trump's vanity projects and don't put Trump on Mount Rushmore!

Trump is planning to build a $200 million White House ballroom.1 It’s yet another ridiculous vanity project in the background of the administration’s ever-escalating authoritarianism.

After Trump cemented over the White House Rose Garden, and pressured the Smithsonian to remove an exhibit on his two impeachments,2,3 it’s clear that he’s trying to put his MAGA stamp on the White House AND control history.

Trump’s sycophants in Congress are still pushing proposals to get his face on Mount Rushmore, currency, airports, and landmarks. It’s critical that our lawmakers stand against these insidious displays of Trump-worship.

Sign the petition: Keep Trump off of Mount Rushmore, currency, and other landmarks — stop Trump’s push to control history.

Trump loyalist Rep. Andy Ogles recently urged the government to put Trump on Mount Rushmore. After saying the White House is ushering in “America’s Golden Age,” Ogles added, “it is essential that we immortalize President Trump’s likeness on Mount Rushmore.”4 He joined a wave of GOP efforts to get Trump’s name on the D.C. metro, Dulles airport, the Kennedy Center, and currency.5

Just two months ago, Trump put on a wasteful, grotesque military parade celebrating his birthday. Putting Trump’s own face on Mount Rushmore would be another act of a strongman.

The drive to put Trump’s face on Mount Rushmore is particularly disturbing because the monument is built in the Black Hills on unceded Lakota territory — deeply important land that the U.S. government stole from Native Americans.6 And the person who led the construction of Mount Rushmore had ties to the KKK.7

Sitting presidents don’t belong on money, monuments, airports, and landmarks — especially not Trump, whose administration continuously defies the rule of law and threatens our democracy.

Sign the petition: Reject all efforts to put Trump on Mount Rushmore!

Thanks for taking action,

Joey and the Demand Progress team

MY E MAIL TO REP SUBRAMANYAM D-VA 10TH DISTRICT

Trump loyalist Rep. Andy Ogles wrote to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum recently urging the government to put Trump on Mount Rushmore. After saying the White House is ushering in America’s Golden Age, Ogles added, “it is essential that we immortalize President Trump’s likeness on Mount Rushmore.”

Just like Trump’s grotesque wasteful military parade he perverted for his own birthday, glorifying a sitting president with national statues and monuments is another step toward authoritarianism.

Rep. Ogle’s plan follows Interior Secretary Burgum saying earlier this year that there’s “definitely” room for Trump on Rushmore.

The drive to put Trump’s face on Mount Rushmore is more disturbing because the monument is built in the Black Hills on unceded Lakota territory — deeply important land that the U.S. government stole from Native Americans. And the person who led the construction of Mount Rushmore had ties to the KKK.

As the White House tries to open up public land for destructive mining and drilling, the Interior Department seems more focused on celebrating Trump than fulfilling its duties to protect public lands.

I expect you to work with the entire Virginia congressional delegation and other representatives and senators to stop this proposal before it starts.

Thank you
