Congress must rein in President Trump’s latest abuse of power & President Trump is eroding our democracy 15AUG25

PLEASE sign the ACLU's petition to congress telling them to rein in NOT MY pres drumpf's / trump's abuse of power, to stop the lies, deception and manipulation to declare false "emergencies" and keep federalized National Guard troops and members of the US Military out of American cities, off American streets. It will be helpful if you will also e mail this same message to your representative and senators, as usual my e mails will be at the end of this post. ALSO, here is a brief report on some of the actions the ACLU has taken since NOT MY pres drumpf / trump and NOT MY vp vance were sworn in on 20 JAN 25. President Trump is dramatically escalating his campaign to scare our communities and silence dissent. He just created a phony “emergency” to deploy armed National Guard troops to D.C. and seized control of the local police force. This isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last. President Trump similarly deployed the National Guard in Los Angeles and he’s been warning this week that he wants to deploy troops to other cities across the country to quell protests.   The President’s actions undermine the simple, foundational American principle that the military should not be used to police civilians here at home. Congress must rein in President Trump and halt his egregious abuse of power. Tell your representatives to act now!

Thanks for all you do, The ACLU Team MY E MAILS TO REP  SUBRAMANYAM D-VA 10TH, SEN WARNER D-VA AND SEN KAINE D-VA I'm writing to condemn NOT MY pres drumpf's / trump's reported plans to deploy National Guard troops into our communities and to ICE detention centers – and I'm calling on you to block this escalation from the drumpf / trump administration. These actions are unnecessary, inflammatory, and a dangerous abuse of power. More and more his actions are threats to the continuation of our democratic Republic. All members of congress should remember their oath of office is to the nation, NOT to their political party and NOT to any president. Congress needs  to be united in the defense of our country and in the prevention of the imposition of the authoritarian theocratic oligarchy as outlined in the heritage foundation's project 2025. Using troops and military bases for domestic immigration enforcement and detention represents a dangerous erosion of the strict line separating the military from civilian policing. The idea of the National Guard being pulled from their communities – and true emergencies, like natural disaster response – to carry out NOT MY pres drumpf's / trump’s anti-immigrant policies is undemocratic and contrary to our values. This is yet another misuse of the National Guard. Our communities and the troops both deserve better This deployment would pull the National Guard away from the essential work they’re trained to do in truly extreme situations – like responding to natural disasters, public health emergencies, and other real community needs. NOT MY pres drumpf / trump is attempting to write himself a blank check to use the military as part of his own personal deportation force. I urge you to block the deployment of National Guard troops for immigration enforcement in states around the country and conduct oversight over immigration detention at military bases.
