Here is Trump’s blueprint to rig the 2026 midterms 8SEP26

I AM NOT AN ALARMIST. The neo-nazi fascist drumpf/trump-vance administration with the gop / greed over people-republican party, scotus, the fascist heritage foundation and right wing "religious" extremist are and have been opposed to our democratic Republic and want to replace it with an authoritarian theocratic oligarchy. If enough of us, the loyal opposition, turn out and vote in every precinct, community, and state we can save America. Remember, ELECTION DAY IS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD, 2026! DEMOCRACY IS NOT A SPECTATOR SPORT! We need to make sure everyone who really loves our country votes. Remember to confirm you are registered to vote and your voting location information at Rock The Vote by Wednesday, 28 October 2026. You can also register to vote through Rock The Vote, check with them as soon as possible for the last date to register to vote in your state. NOTE-as long as you are in line to vote when the polls in your state close you will be able to vote and your vote will count! This from Democracy Docket.....

We are less than two months until Election Day for the most important midterms of our lifetime. Ballots have already started to be sent out. The threats to free and fair elections are real and growing more serious by the day.

What once seemed like an abstract threat has now become concrete. The risk of a rigged election is no longer unthinkable. The need for action can no longer be delayed or denied.

I have often said that Donald Trump’s plan is to make it harder for you to vote and easier for him to cheat. Now we know what that will look like in 2026.

Donald Trump issued an executive order claiming powers over federal elections that he does not have. In response, the U.S. Postal Service is trying to ram through a rule that will make voting by mail more difficult while requiring states to turn over sensitive voter data.

The Postal Service has not been shy in making clear that it is taking these steps to allow federal law enforcement to conduct criminal investigations of alleged voter fraud.

That is not all the USPS has done to make voting more difficult. A series of smaller changes have resulted in slower mail service and delayed postmarks on envelopes. While these are not limited to returned ballots, the results have been devastating for those trying to vote by mail.

Meanwhile, the Department of Justice continues to sue for access to states’ complete voter files, while the head of its Civil Rights Division is threatening to deploy 1,000 federal agents to “monitor” polling places in the midterm elections.

The Department of Homeland Security is readying so-called state citizenship lists to send to states, a thinly veiled threat to state officials to purge voters… or else. And things are escalating quickly. Now word has come that the DHS will launch a massive witch hunt to investigate evidence of nonexistent, widespread voter fraud.

The weaponization of government against Trump’s political enemies is in full swing and out in the open. Under Trump’s direction, the DOJ will now target state election officials under the guise that they have permitted illegal voting.

Republicans and their allies are litigating to make voting more difficult and election subversion easier. Recently, the Republican National Committee joined the Trump administration in asking the Supreme Court to gut a federal law that limits last-minute voter purges.

Election offices, which in the past served to protect the integrity of elections from attacks by bad actors, are now being overrun and infiltrated by election deniers trying to sow doubt from the inside.

Individually, each of these developments is troubling. Collectively, they paint a damning picture of an authoritarian president trying to rig the vote before it happens. This government-sponsored voter suppression is on a scale we have not seen in our nation’s history.

While nearly all of what I describe above is undisputed fact, it has been normalized by a legacy media intent on not taking sides. That must end now.

In the past, some have called me an alarmist. Critics have accused me of being too aggressive in fighting back. They suggest I find more room for compromise and seek bipartisan solutions.

There is no virtue in turning a blind eye to voter suppression to meet Republicans halfway. There is no vice in remaining firm against election subversion, even if it requires standing alone.

It is not spreading conspiracy theories to draw the obvious connections between the individual efforts of this administration and their GOP allies to obstruct free and fair elections.

Donald Trump is the unquestioned originator and leader of the election denier movement. But he is not its only adherent.

The plan to subvert the midterm elections may have originated in the White House,  but it is being carried out by dozens of federal agencies, outside groups, and Republican officials.

Defeating it in the short time remaining will require a similarly focused effort by the pro-democracy community. That means recognizing the strengths that we all bring to this fight.

As Election Day nears, Democratic candidates and parties will necessarily step to the forefront in the courtrooms. As I often point out, it is no coincidence that the 2000 election was decided in a case captioned Bush v. Gore. Nor was it by chance that I represented Joe Biden and the Democratic Party in more than 60 cases in the 2020 post-election litigation.

The role of candidates in litigation has become more important. The Supreme Court recently granted them unique standing to challenge nearly all election rules and laws. According to the Chief Justice John Roberts, unlike other potential parties to litigation, “candidates suffer when the process departs from the law.”

That does not mean there is not an important role for other pro-democracy organizations to play in the courtroom and out. On the contrary, providing nonpartisan information to voters, organizing direct action and supporting election officials who do the right thing are vital to our system of elections.

The most important work, however, belongs to the citizens of this country. Each of us must make sure we understand the rules for registering to vote and casting a ballot. We must share that information with those in our circles of trust.

We must also call out the efforts to suppress the vote for what they are — an assault on democracy. We must insist that our election officials, regardless of party, stand up against those barriers. And, after the ballots are cast, we must remain engaged until the accurate results are certified and the rightful winners take their seats.

The next few months will be long and hard. But democracy is worth the fight.

2026 MIDTERM ELECTIONS, we've got to finish the job!!! 3SEP26

Here is a message encouragement from Sen Bernie Sanders I-VT. Election day is Tuesday, 3 November 2026 and the loyal opposition to the corrupt fascist authoritarian drumpf/trump-vance administration and the gop / greed over people-republican party has a real chance of taking control of congress and having the authority and power to defend and repair the damage to our democratic Republic. Please confirm your voter registration is current and correct. If you need to register to vote please do so. You can do both at Rock The Vote. AND then remember to vote! Vote early if possible, if you are going to vote on election day make sure you have a election day plan in place and also be aware that as long as you are in line to vote at your polling location when the polls close you will still be able to vote. If you can please send a donation of whatever you can afford to Bernie to keep our momentum going.....

The political and media establishment are in a state of shock and fear. The political revolution that we have fought for over the years is gaining momentum every day. More and more Americans, in every part of the country, understand that we must go beyond status quo politics and policies. They want leadership that will take on the greed of the Oligarchs and fight for a government and economy that works for all, not just the few.

Look around at what’s happened over the last year.

It began in November with Zohran Mamdani’s incredible campaign to become Mayor of New York City. And then the wins kept on coming.

Progressive House candidates have won elections in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, California, Montana, Colorado, Michigan, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

We elected great progressive candidates to become the Democratic nominees for U.S. Senate. Dr. Abdul El-Sayed won in Michigan, Peggy Flanagan won in Minnesota, and Angie Nixon won in Florida. Just the other night Ed Markey won his campaign in Massachusetts.

In California, the SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West and other unions submitted over 1.5 million signatures to get a Billionaire Wealth Tax on the ballot -- a ballot initiative that, despite opposition from the Republican and Democratic establishment, is leading in recent polls.

And it’s not just election results. Poll after poll shows that the progressive agenda is incredibly popular with the American people. They are disgusted with the massive level of income and wealth inequality that exists and want the billionaires in this country to pay their fair share of taxes. They understand that healthcare is a human right for all and not a privilege, and want to lower the outrageous cost of prescription drugs. They understand that we should not be spending huge amounts of money to fund unconstitutional and illegal wars, and they want to end U.S. military support for Israel. They want AI to be regulated and to benefit all Americans, not just the billionaire owners of the industry.

So what do we do now?

Short-term, we build on our extraordinary successes by making sure the progressive candidates who won tough primaries win in the general election. Needless to say, winning a primary is one thing. Winning a general election is something else.

Three candidates who need our help today are William Lawrence, running for the House in Michigan, along with Randy Villegas and Aisha Wahab in California.

All three have tough campaigns and I am going to do everything I can between now and November to help them. But I cannot do it alone. Each of them has asked me for your help as well.

So I am asking, once again:

Can you please split a contribution of $27 or whatever you can afford between William Lawrence, Randy Villegas, and Aisha Wahab's campaigns for Congress? All of them need our help to fund a campaign to turn out the voters they need to win.

If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly:

That's short-term.

Long-term - after this election ends - we must redouble our efforts to create a vibrant democracy where the voices of all people are heard.

We must fight harder than ever to create a nation that leads the world in the struggle for peace, and for economic, social, racial and environmental justice.

And with a greater number of progressives in Congress than ever before, we must recommit ourselves to fight against the Oligarchs who control our economy, our media and political system and to move us toward a government that works for all of us and not just the one percent.

Will we succeed?

I do not have a crystal ball, but I can tell you that the last several months have given me hope - and should give you hope.

Now we've got to finish the job.

Let's get it done.

In solidarity,

Bernie Sanders

Trump Threatens Suit Over Report He Doesn’t Like, Aiming to Intimidate a Critic 21AUG26

Trump Threatens Suit Over Report He Doesn’t Like, Aiming to Intimidate a Critic

It was the latest example of President Trump’s bid to use the legal system against those who voice unflattering facts and opinions generally protected by the First Amendment.

President Trump has opened a new front in his campaign to intimidate political foes, threatening a prominent liberal think tank with a $5 billion defamation lawsuit over a report concluding that his deployment of the National Guard to cities across the country has had little effect on reducing violent crime.

The threats against the think tank, the Center for American Progress, were Mr. Trump’s latest effort to use the legal system to punish critics for voicing unflattering facts and opinions generally protected by the First Amendment. And while it is unclear how far any suit the president might ultimately file will get in court, it could force the organization to spend money fighting it off and make it even more of a target of his allies and supporters.

On Monday, one of Mr. Trump’s personal lawyers, Alejandro Brito, wrote a letter to the center warning that he would file the suit if the group did not fully retract the report, which was published on its website on July 13. The letter, viewed by The New York Times, was addressed to the group’s president and chief executive, Neera Tanden, a longtime Democratic official who served as a senior adviser to President Joseph R. Biden Jr., and to several of its board members.

Mr. Brito claimed that the report about the National Guard was full of malicious and false statements. He gave Ms. Tanden and members of her board until 5 p.m. on Friday to retract it and apologize to Mr. Trump.

Ms. Tanden pushed back, saying in a statement that the center would “neither cower nor bend in the face” of legal action. She also defended the report, asserting that while its findings might have been “inconvenient to the Trump administration,” they were “grounded in rigorous, evidence-based research and analysis.”

“This threatened lawsuit’s attack on facts and evidence is baseless,” she added. “A fundamental protection of the First Amendment is to allow for the publication of facts and analysis that is contrary to the arguments and claims of any administration. A lawsuit is a transparent attempt to silence us.”

Mr. Trump has often lashed out at scholars and commentators for reproaching or critiquing him in the news media. And since winning re-election, he has filed a flurry of lawsuits against news organizations like the BBC and The Times, claiming they defamed him. He has even filed suit against the Des Moines Register, arguing that a poll the paper published before the 2024 election indicating that he would lose the vote in Iowa amounted to consumer fraud and election interference.

(The Times has filed its own suits against the administration, including two seeking increased access for its reporters at the Pentagon.)

The president has repeatedly claimed that his administration is the most transparent in American history. But he and his aides have used lawsuits and executive actions to go after law firmsuniversities and television networks. They have also used criminal tactics such as search warrants and grand jury subpoenas in an effort to pry loose sensitive information from reporters.

Many of these efforts have faltered once they reached court and faced judicial scrutiny. Mr. Brito himself has filed multiple failed suits on behalf of Mr. Trump. Last month, a federal judge in Florida referred Mr. Brito for potential disciplinary proceedings after ruling that a suit he filed for the president against the Internal Revenue Service amounted to an improper exercise in self-dealing.

The Center for American Progress report accused Mr. Trump of seeking to take credit for a nationwide decline in violent crime that began before he returned to the White House. The report determined that there was “no evidence” that the National Guard deployments had affected the crime rate, adding that they were poised to cost taxpayers more than $1.7 billion if they continued through the end of 2026.

The report asserted that the “primary goal” of the deployments was “never to stop crime.” Instead, it said they amounted to “a dangerous power grab by the Trump administration.”

The team that put the report together used an analysis based on homicide, violent crime and gun victimization data in cities where the National Guard was deployed — Washington, Los Angeles and Memphis — over the period from January 2023 to this February.

“This approach was employed to identify any statistical changes in crime trends associated with the deployment of the National Guard in specific cities,” its authors wrote.

Mr. Trump referred to the report on social media last week after watching a television segment about the report, which he described as “another Radical Left SCAM.” In the post, he threatened to sue the center and several of its funders, including the liberal financier George Soros, who has long served as a boogeyman for the administration.

A week later, Mr. Brito’s letter arrived at the center, saying that the president would sue if Ms. Tanden and her colleagues did not retract the report, issue an apology and give Mr. Trump unspecified financial compensation.

The letter ended with an all-caps salutation: “PLEASE GOVERN YOURSELVES ACCORDINGLY.”

On Friday, a lawyer for the center fired back in a letter of his own, deriding Mr. Trump’s accusations that he had been defamed.

“This is utterly absurd,” the lawyer, Kevin H. Metz, wrote to Mr. Brito. “Truth is not and cannot be defamation.”

Mr. Metz went on to say that the center welcomed the opportunity to make its case in court and receive more information on the National Guard deployments through the process of discovery.

Other think tanks of various political stripes have rallied to the center’s side.

“Independent organizations across the ideological spectrum must be free to express their analysis and opinions, and to challenge those in power without fear of political retaliation or legal intimidation,” said Peter Goettler, the president and chief executive of the libertarian Cato Institute. “Disagreements on matters of policy should be settled through open inquiry, evidence, and debate — not threats designed to silence criticism.”
