US sanctions international criminal court president and prosecutor 18AUG26

THE reason this American administration is sanctioning the ICC is because not only is the drumpf/trump-vance administration, their entire cabinet and their billionaire and mega millionaire associates are guilty of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, funding international terrorism, sheltering persons indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity and they are all guilty of fostering corruption, environmental degradation, bribery, slavery and human trafficking in most of the countries they are doing business in. These people have money but their actions show they are no class trash. This from The Guardian.....

US sanctions international criminal court president and prosecutor

Marco Rubio targets ICC’s Tomoko Akane and Abdoulaye Seye, who was investigating Israeli war crimes in Gaza

The US has sanctioned the president of the international criminal court (ICC) and a prosecutor tasked with investigating crimes committed by Israel during its war on Gaza.

The new sanctions designations were unveiled by Marco Rubio, the US secretary of state, who called the Hague-based ICC a “corrupt and fatally politicized supranational court that has maliciously abused its authority and exceeded its mandate”, in a statement.

Rubio announced that the US would sanction Tomoko Akane of Japan, the ICC president, and Abdoulaye Seye of Senegal, an ICC senior trial lawyer, because they had “directly engaged in efforts by the ICC to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute officials whose government has not consented to ICC jurisdiction”.

The state department last month unveiled an effort to “dismantle the threat” posed by the ICC to US sovereignty.

The ultimate goal was to “disable the ICC’s ability to operate, target American servicemen or officials, or otherwise threaten American sovereignty”, the department said in a statement.

Rubio has called on the 125 member countries of the ICC to withdraw from the body. Donald Trump has said that he is targeting the ICC because of the threat it poses to Israel.

The US had previously sanctioned Karim Khan, an ICC prosecutor, who had successfully sought arrest warrants for the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and for former defense minister Yoav Gallant, over war crimes during the Gaza war. Trump in 2025 sanctioned the court, stating in an executive order that it had “engaged in illegitimate and baseless actions targeting America and our close ally Israel”.

Rubio did not say specifically which efforts the two ICC officials had engaged in, but Israeli media have reported that Seye is also overseeing the investigation into Israeli funding for illegal settlements and the distribution of weapons to settlers in the West Bank.

Israeli officials warned local media in May that the ICC may seek five more arrest warrants for ministers and senior military officials involved in violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The US has already designated at least 11 ICC officials for sanctions, stemming from cases that also include investigations into the actions of US soldiers in Afghanistan.

Neither the US nor Israel are member states of the ICC or recognise its jurisdiction.

Four human rights groups sued Trump last week for targeting the ICC. In the lawsuit, they said that the sanctions prevent victims of war crimes from seeking justice.

Why does the US want to ‘dismantle’ the international criminal court?

Beshear: Former District Court Judge Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Human Trafficking

Nolan to pay $100,000 in asset forfeiture, $10,000 to human trafficking victims fund

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 4, 2018) – Attorney General Andy Beshear today announced that former Campbell County District Judge Timothy Nolan was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to numerous charges related to human trafficking.

Prosecutors from Beshear’s Special Prosecutions Division accepted a guilty plea from Nolan Feb. 9 on 21 counts, including human trafficking of adults, promoting human trafficking of minors and unlawful transaction with minors, against 19 victims. At that time, prosecutors’ recommended sentences totaling 20 years in prison.

As part of his plea agreement, Nolan will pay $110,000 in asset forfeiture and to the Human Trafficking Victims Fund –  within the executive branch’s Justice and Public Safety Cabinet – which was established in 2013.

Nolan paid $10,000 to the victims fund and $40,000 in asset forfeiture today. He is to pay an additional $60,000 in asset forfeiture.

Nolan, 71, of California, Ky., a former local school board member, was originally charged in a criminal complaint by the Campbell County Police Department for crimes that occurred between 2010 and 2017. That complaint alleged that Nolan committed human trafficking with a minor by subjecting a child under age 18 to engaging in commercial sexual activity.

He was later indicted on 28 felony counts and two misdemeanor counts.

“The punishment in this case does not undo the trauma inflicted on the victims, but it brings closure and some justice,” Beshear said. “I want to thank the Campbell County Police Department and our special prosecutions team for working this case.”

Nolan is subject to lifetime sex offender registration.

A core mission of Beshear’s is to bring justice to victims of rape, sexual assault and human trafficking.

Beshear’s Special Prosecution Division is responsible for assisting local prosecutors in complex or sensitive cases, as well as handling cases in which local prosecutors recuse themselves.

Christian academy in Kansas notifies students they can be expelled for having a gay family member & more from DAILY KOS RECOMMENDED 23&24MAI16

I really, really, really want some members of the staff of trinity academy to have LGBT family members, that would be so sweet!
Christian academy in Kansas notifies students they can be expelled for having a gay family member
In order to attend Trinity Christian Academy in Wichita, Kansas, both parents and students must sign a form that acknowledging (among other things) that they understand they can be expelled if they have an LGBT family member in the home. Not for being an LGBT student at the private Christian school, merely for having an LGBT family member in the home. The highlighted bullet point from patheos.com:
Given the debate and confusion in our society about marriage and human sexuality it is vital that Trinity families agree with and support the school’s traditional, Christian understanding of those issues. Therefore, when the atmosphere or conduct within a particular home is counter to the school’s understanding of a biblical lifestyle, including the practice or promotion of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) lifestyle or alternative gender identity, the school should have the right, in its sole discretion, to deny the admission of an applicant or discontinue enrollment of a current student.
Bless their bigoted hearts.

Mothers Change the World

Your donation to the Playing For Change Foundation supports the Tintale Village Mothers' Society, and many other amazing people and organizations that are making a huge impact in their communities around the world. Thank you for your support!

When Playing For Change Foundation provided resources to the Mother’s Society in Tintale, Nepal, they knew there was a great need. Now, several years later, we all stand in awe of the creativity and courage of this group of women - and the girls who have joined them - who are using music, dance and performances to educate area villages about the risks of human trafficking, drugs and alcohol.

The society travels on a regular basis to perform and teach communities about the tricks human traffickers use to lure young women into the slave trade. The risks they address are real—each year more than 10,000 Nepali girls are stolen or sold to work in brothels in India. As a result of their performances, false promises of work, marriage and a better life made by traffickers are now recognized as a deceitful trap that can strip young girls of their freedom and future. Equally encouraging, the men of Tintale village fully support the project and have joined with their wives and daughters to help protect them and spread the word.

The cost for the Mother's Society to travel, perform, and deliver their urgent message to people in remote areas of Nepal is approximately $200USD per performance; this includes instruments, supplies, stipends for the performers, and a small administrative fee for the group's coordinator.

Visit Playing For Change Foundation's website to learn more about this organization and make a donation. You can be assured that your gift will support these remarkable women and girls who are committed to saving the lives of others and who are using music and performance to do it.

Saudi diplomatic compound in Virginia faces human trafficking probe 1MAI13 المجمع الدبلوماسي السعودي في ولاية فرجينيا يواجه التحقيق الاتجار بالبشر

THIS is not a surprise. It is shameful and disgusting, but it is not a surprise. What will be shocking is if the pigs who live in and own the house are persecuted, and if not persecuted, at the least ordered to leave the country ASAP. It has been known forever the saudi ruling class and saudi men in general are brutal and perverse pigs, practitioners of a false sect of Islam they use to justify their abuse, physically, mentally and sexually, of children, women and men. It may be the norm in the saudi kingdom but we should not tolerate it here. Arrest these people if possible, if not kick them out of the U.S. now!

Federal authorities are investigating a Saudi Arabian diplomatic compound in Virginia over a potential case of human trafficking, according to BuzzFeed and NBC Washington.
Federal and local police were called to a home in McLean overnight, where they encountered “two potential victims of trafficking” from the Philippines. One of the women attempted to flee. Real estate records indicate the residence belongs to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said an investigation was ongoing, but could be complicated if the subjects have diplomatic immunity. Brandon Montgomery, an ICE spokesman, told BuzzFeed that “other agencies” were also involved, but did not elaborate.
The Saudi Embassy has denied having any knowledge of the incident.
“We don’t know anything about that,” a spokesperson told BuzzFeed. “The report that we got is that the house belongs to the Saudi armed forces, like the military office.”
Saudi Arabian has face criticism for failing to adequately fighting human trafficking. The U.S. State Department’s 2012 Trafficking in Persons Report stated, “Saudi Arabia is a destination country for men and women subjected to forced labor and to a lesser extent, forced prostitution.” The report also claimed the country “does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking and is not making significant efforts to do so.”

THIS WEEK IN CIVIL LIBERTIES from THE ACLU 29JUN12

THIS week in civil liberties covers genes & DNA, life without parole for minors, Arizona & immigration, bush & torture, the US military's drone program and US military contractors involved in human trafficking...
Dr. James Watson thinks that patenting human genes is “lunacy.” What scientific discovery is he known for?
Which court ruled this week that a sentencing scheme of mandatory life in prison without the possibility of parole for children is unconstitutional?
Which discriminatory provision of Arizona’s anti-immigrant law did the Supreme Court uphold this week?
Why does the government continue to fight ACLU efforts to increase transparency regarding the targeted killing program?
What ACLU tool can you use to read over 100,000 pages of documents related to the Bush administration’s rendition, detention, and interrogation policies and practices?
James Watson, Discoverer of DNA: Patenting Human Genes Is “Lunacy”
Recently, Dr. James Watson filed an amicus brief opposing gene patenting in our lawsuit challenging Myriad Genetics' patents on two human genes associated with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. Dr. Watson, along with Francis Crick, identified DNA’s ability to create life through its double helical structure and its information-coding sequences in 1953. His brief explains why, from the perspective of a scientist whose work laid the foundation for all genetic research, gene patenting is “lunacy.”
ACLU Lens: Supreme Court Rules Against Mandatory Life Without Parole for Children
A message for Alabama, Arkansas, and the entire United States: a sentencing scheme of mandatory life in prison without the possibility of parole for juvenile homicide offenders (JLWOP) is cruel and unusual punishment. That’s what the Supreme Court said this week when it ruled in Miller v. Alabama and Jackson v. Hobbs that such sentencing schemes violate the Eight Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Supreme Court Deals Blow to 3 Provisions of Arizona’s Racial Profiling Law but Allows “Show Me Your Papers” Provision to Live Another Day
This week’s Supreme Court decision in Arizona v. United States rightly rejects three parts of Arizona’s controversial SB 1070 law as unconstitutional. Yet critically, the Court opens the door to racial profiling by upholding the most egregious provision, the “show me your papers” provision, Section 2(B) of the law. The Court did, however, recognize that in practice Section 2(B) may suffer from constitutional defects that make it vulnerable to legal challenge going forward. But the Court basically kicked the racial profiling can down the road. The ACLU will seize this opportunity and continue the battle against laws like SB 1070 which encourage and codify racial profiling of immigrant communities and people of color.
The Government’s Pseudo-Secrecy Snow Job on Targeted Killing
Just before a midnight deadline on Wednesday, the government filed its legal brief responding to the ACLU’s Freedom of Information Act lawsuit seeking information about the legal and factual basis for the deaths of three U.S. citizens in targeted killing drone strikes last fall. Our initial reaction to the brief is here, but the government’s position is so remarkable that it warrants further comment.
ACLU Launches Torture Database in Recognition of International Day in Support of Victims of Torture
For Torture Awareness Month, we are launching the Torture Database, a compilation of over 100,000 pages of documents related to the Bush administration’s rendition, detention, and interrogation policies and practices. The database is our effort to provide meaningful public access to the primary documentation of torture and abuse during the years following September 11, 2001.
