THE policy of separating families asking for asylum is illegal and immoral. It is a gross violation of human rights as well as the teachings of Jesus Christ, mentioned for those right wing religious supporters of the drumpf/trump-pence administration who just can't bring themselves to hold drumpf/trump-pence to the same moral standards they held the Obama-Biden administration to. I couldn't donate $40 but I did donate $20, and I hope you will click the link and donate what you can. From UltraViolet.....
The court-ordered deadline to reunite families separated at the border has passed, and many parents still don’t have enough money for legal expenses or bail so that they can get their kids back.
That's why an UltraViolet member, Julie Schwietert Collazo, launched an effort to raise money directly to help pay for child separation cases.
Julie, whose effort has been profiled in The New York Times, has teamed up with immigration lawyers to create a list of parents who still need help reuniting with their children.1 She and her team have already reunited more than a dozen families.
The media may have moved on, but Julie still has a long list of families that need help. Will you chip in $40? 100% of your donation will go to Julie's family separation fund.
When news first broke about Trump's family separation policy, there was an outpouring of public outrage and donations to help fight back. And those donations have made a huge difference, forcing Trump to back down and leading to a federal court order to reunite the thousands of families that have been separated.
But the process of reuniting families has been chaotic and inconsistent. Some kids were lost in the system. As a result, while the majority of families have been reunited, hundreds of kids remain in custody, away from their parents.2
As Senator Richard Blumenthal said, this is "official kidnapping and child abuse."3
We can't stop fighting until every one of these kids has been returned to their parents. UltraViolet is keeping the pressure on the Trump administration while Julie continues to work through the names on her list who are asking for help with legal costs and bail.
Thank you for stepping up.
