THE VAWA, Violence Against Women Act has been passed in the US Senate but is being held up in the US House. It is an outrage this bill has not been passed. The House failed to pass it last year, we can not allow that to happen again. Please sign this letter from members of the Senate to the House calling on them to pass the VAWA now, and then take the time to send an e mail to your Representative telling them to vote for the VAWA, find their e mail address here http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/
My e mail to my Rep, Rep Gerry Connolly D VA is below....
Domestic violence and abuse are inexcusable. And so was the House of Representatives' failure to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act last year.
This week, I voted to send a new Violence Against Women Act to the House. Please join me and 11 other Senators - sign our petition and tell the House to pass the Violence Against Women Act.
Protecting the health and safety of American women should be a no-brainer, but some extreme elements in the House of Representatives are holding up this critical legislation because it adds protections to Native American and LGBT victims of domestic violence.
There are 24 new victims of domestic violence every minute. An average of three women will be killed today by their partners. It's long past time to bring the Violence Against Women Act back, and to take a stand against domestic violence.
Let's tell extremists opposing the Violence Against Women Act that the American people think they're dead wrong.
Thanks,
Senator Jeff Merkley

Domestic abuse is inexcusable. And so was Congress’s failure to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) last year.
VAWA lapsed because some extremists objected to extending its protections to immigrants, Native Americans, and the LGBT community. But now it’s time to bring VAWA back -- and protect every American.
I’m raising my voice in support of the Violence Against Women Act because it’s time to fight back against domestic abuse. No excuses, no exceptions, no delays: PASS VAWA NOW!
