With your
help, War Costs released its first video on the important
subject of drone strikes in Pakistan. It has been a huge success! The
video accompanied a report by human rights law experts at Stanford and
New York University law schools. The report, entitled “ Living Under Drones,” presents
chilling first-hand testimony from Pakistani civilians on the
humanitarian and security costs of escalating drone attacks by the
United States.
Our staff used the
video and report to create a conversation around America's drone
policy in Pakistan. The echo chamber was activated and dozens of major
outlets across the the U.S., and beyond, including Huffington Post's front page and
the New York Times, picked it up.
(See a full list on our Press page.)
This was no small
feat given the relatively minor amount of attention the subject yields
in the U.S., in part because of the extreme secrecy that obscures an
honest look at the program. But we are going to change that.
Please share this video; to help us build the
momentum. We will be making a big announcement next week, so please
look for an email from us which will detail our plans on this
life-and-death issue. With your help, we can make a difference.
Thank you,
Robert Greenwald
