Hi, I'm Edrie Irvine. Last week, you and other USAction members sent me and other unemployed workers to D.C. to tell Congress not to cut off the last lifeline for millions of jobless families like mine.
Your support has meant a lot to me, and I’ve got some good news: As of today it looks like we may get an extension of unemployment benefits.1
But there’s a catch: The benefits extension is part of a deal that would also extend tax cuts for millionaires, weaken the estate tax and even RAISE taxes on under-employed workers.2
Republicans are holding struggling families like mine hostage -- demanding a deal in which we can only get the money for groceries and rent if Congress *also* makes a billion-dollar tax giveaway to millionaires and billionaires.
Tell your members of Congress to fight for a better deal for working families by extending unemployment insurance, and not extra tax breaks for millionaires.

My kids do need to eat, but I don't want them paying off the extra-large deficit these tax cuts for the rich will create.
And a growing number of Democrats in Congress are saying the same thing: unemployed workers like me should not be held hostage by rich CEOs demanding an extra tax cut.3
But with benefits already running out for more than 2 million families like mine, and the holidays just around the corner, we’re almost out of time. So we can't delay: Take action now and tell Congress to fight for working families, not rich CEOs.
Thanks for all you do,
Edrie Irvine
