HR 1585 VAWA; Will Rep jennifer wexton D VA do the right thing or is she no different than barbara comstock? 11MAR19

MORE and more I am getting the impression Rep jennifer wexton DF* VA is no different and no better than barbara comstock. wexton is not cosponsoring HR 1384 Medicare For All Act of 2019 because she feels it is too expensive for the country ( but you can bet she will support funding for the bloated military-industrial complex budget to keep the war profiteers happy ). She and her congressional House staff do not mind having the American taxpayers pay for their heath insurance through the Affordable Care Act but feel no responsibility to make sure all Americans have access to health insurance without having to worry about the cost of treatment and medication. If it is true that comstock did not get her health insurance through the ACA ( I was told one time she was covered by her husband's insurance  ) then on the issue of healthcare wexton is the hypocrite.
AND now women and Progressives are advocating for the U.S. House to pass HR 1585 the  Re authorization of The Violence Against Women Act of 1994, legislation that expired during the last government shutdown. wexton is not a cosponsor of this re authorization bill introduced by Rep Karen Bass D CA on 7 MAR 19. I called her D.C. office and was told HR 1585 has not been discussed in weston's office and it is unknown if she will become a cosponsor and / or will vote for this legislation. REALLY?!?!?!???? Another example of wexton waiting to be told what to do by the House Democratic Party leadership, that has to be what is happening because what could be wrong with this legislation protecting women, this legislation that has been passed multiple times but Rep wexton can not decide on her own to support it?  For those reading this who live in Virginia's 10th congressional district please call Rep wexton's office and tell her to cosponsor, support and vote for HR 1585. All representatives and senators  should be called and e mailed and told the same. CHECK OUT THIS HYPOCRITICAL TWEET FROM WEXTON

From UltraViolet.....
Trump's government shutdown shamefully allowed the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) to lapse. Last Thursday, the bipartisan legislation was reintroduced--and it's up to all of us to make sure it passes.
VAWA has provided funding for life-saving services for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking as well as efforts to prevent this violence for the past 24 years.1

VAWA has always passed with overwhelming bipartisan support--but some extreme conservatives in Congress are balking at efforts to expand the bill to provide needed support to Native American women, undocumented immigrants, and LGBTQ people.2

Craig, we need to make sure each and every U.S. Representative knows that their constituents support survivors, and a strengthened Violence Against Women Act. The bill was just introduced last Thursday and having a slew of representatives sign on immediately will show huge momentum. Will you speak out for women and survivors and call your representative, Jennifer Wexton, today?
Here's the number to call. After the call, let us know how it went:
  • Rep. Wexton - (202) 225-5136
Getting your representative signed on as a cosponsor now is a key way to continue to build momentum for this important legislation.
It is always best to speak in your own words, but here are some points you should cover:
  • Hi my name is _______ and I'm calling from _______ to urge Rep. Wexton to cosponsor the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019. The bill number is H.R 1585
  • VAWA provides critical services to combat the epidemic of sexual and domestic violence in our country. One in three women and one in four men in the U.S. have been victims of some form of physical violence by an intimate partner,3 and every 98 seconds a person in the United States is sexually assaulted.4
  • Queer, trans, and non-binary people also experience intimate partner violence, and face even more severe barriers to receiving help.5
  • I support all of the updates in the bill that provide support to Native American women, undocumented immigrants, and LGBTQ people. They were recommended by direct service providers and are crucial to meet the needs of survivors and to invest in violence prevention.
  • I urge Rep. Wexton to sign on in support of VAWA today.
Thank you for speaking out.
