Members of Congress are booking their plane tickets home this Friday. They might cancel a last minute meeting or cut out of a conference call at the eleventh hour. But there is one task we won't let them put off: making our world safe from nuclear weapons.

The START treaty could be coming to the floor in the Senate as soon as today. This is our chance to begin the process of shrinking our nuclear stockpiles and working with the Russians for a safer future for all.

Tell your Senators to make sure this treaty comes to a vote before they leave for the holidays and tell them to vote "YES."

Who's in favor of passing Obama's START treaty? Virtually all U.S. diplomats, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Charimen of the Joint Chiefs Mike Mullen, former Secretaries of State Condeleeza Rice and Colin Powell as well as more than 75% of the American public^[1]. Sheesh, even Senator John McCain supports it! ^[2]

But that's not enough for a handful of Republicans who have threatened to keep the bill from coming to the floor, further putting off our safety and goal for a nuclear-free world.

That's why we need you. Demand of your Senator to not only make sure the START Treaty comes to a vote before the holiday break, but that they vote "YES" on it as well.
