AFA Fires Breitbart Columnist Austin Ruse Over "Shoot Liberal Professors" Comment 14MAR14

afr has fired austin ruse because of his comments on the network two days ago as reported below and my earlier post American Family Radio (aka Manson Family Radio) guest host calls for left-wing academics to be "taken out and shot" & American Family Association defends Rick Perry's porno past 12MAR14&23AUG11 http://bucknacktssordidtawdryblog.blogspot.com/2014/03/american-family-radio-aka-manson-family.html
One still has to question the claim to faith of the catholic family & human rights institute (c-fam) as long as they keep him on and so endorse his views.
Two days ago while filling in on the American Family Association radio show of Sandy Rios, Breitbart columnist Austin Ruse declared that liberal college professors should all be "taken out and shot." Ruse then spent the next day engaging in Twitter flame wars with his detractors. Today Right Wing Watch reports that Ruse has been fired by American Family Radio, who posted a statement to their Facebook page: "The fill-in host on AFR who made those comments is no longer on the air with us and will not be filling in on AFR in the future." AFR has also deleted Ruse's shows from their archives. For his part, Ruse has deleted his Twitter account, saying on Facebook, "Due to leftist swarm, I've had to deactivate my twitter account." Ruse continues to be listed as a Breitbart contributor.

And yet Bryan Fischer remains.

RELATED: In addition to writing for Breitbart, Ruse is the head of C-FAM, the Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute, which is a member of the World Congress of Families, the coalition working with NOM and others to export anti-gay hatred to foreign counties. During a speech at CPAC 2012, Ruse denounced the United Nations for issuing a resolution against the gay death penalty.

Before Talking About Shooting College Professors, Austin Ruse Wanted To 'Take Out' Hillary Clinton

Perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised that Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute head Austin Ruse wanted to have liberal and women’s studies professors “taken out and shot,” as he once called for the murder of Hillary Clinton.
Back in 2001, Catholics for Choice released a report [PDF] on Ruse and his lobbying efforts at the United Nations, especially his campaign against the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Beijing Platform for Action, which he dubbed the work of “radical feminists.”
The report notes that in a 2000 address to the Cardinal Mindszenty Foundation, Ruse told a story about talking to a Catholic priest about killing Clinton: “Hillary [Clinton] is the ‘conquering queen’ at the United Nations…I was standing on the floor of the UN a couple of months ago, when she was thinking about running, and I was talking to a priest from the Holy See delegation and — I shouldn’t tell you this but he offered me guaranteed absolution if I just took her out — and not on a date.”
Catholics for Choice adds that Ruse sees his conflict with “radical feminists” in “terms of war and attacks and battles”:
Its values and the way in which it promotes them have a negative impact on international policy discourse, especially the efforts of NGOs and governments to work more closely for the development and implementation of public policies on social issues. Perhaps most disturbing is the warlike mindset that permeates [Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute’s] thinking and actions. It is of course very shocking that such a mindset should exist within the Holy See delegation, where, according to Ruse, a priest member of the delegation suggested to him that he should “take out” Hillary Rodham Clinton. It is hard to believe that a member of the Catholic clergy would even joke about such things, but why would Austin Ruse lie about such things?

Suggestions of this kind emerge when groups or individuals see value conflicts in absolutist terms; when they believe God is on their side. The values and ideas of the “other”—who is demonized—need to be crushed. Note how frequently and passionately Austin Ruse talks about this conflict in terms of war and attacks and battles:

My friends, we are in a war….this war is being fought exclusively in quiet and carpeted room at international fora in Rome, Istanbul, Cairo, Beijing, and Rio. I believe one day these place names should be recognized as battlefields just like Bunker Hill, Normandy and Khe San for they are the sites of major battles in this war…

…In the summer of 361 B.C., a Theban general gathered an army of 60,000 freemen, yeoman farmers, a democratic army of citizens…Their victory came almost all at once and their victory rocked the ancient world.

Long under attack by her enemies, the family seems now to be disintegrating all around us….I will focus on one institution with which I am most familiar, the United Nations, an institution that is increasingly at the forefront of the attack on the family.

It was a windowless office where UN negotiators held something called informals...It is the room where the battles are won and lost.

American Family Radio (aka Manson Family Radio) guest host calls for left-wing academics to be "taken out and shot" & American Family Association defends Rick Perry's porno past 12MAR14&23AUG11

SO this is what Christian radio is like? No wonder people are leaving the Church and doing their best to remain Christian and religious outside organized religion. After all, who wants to be exposed to, and have their children exposed to this kind of heresy and twisted perversion of their faith?
Christian Dem in NC

If it were possible for American Family Radio to go too far, it did today.  This morning, regular morning drive-time host Sandy Rios was off, so Austin Ruse of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute served as guest host.  Ruse's organization is rabidly opposed to the United Nations.  For instance, when the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities came up for ratification by the Senate, Ruse blasted out an email claiming that the UN would use it as an excuse to take kids from their parents.  In part due to hysteria stirred up by Ruse and other wingers, the treaty came up six votes short of the 67 needed for ratification.  That should tell you all you need to know about Ruse and his outfit.
But today, Ruse went several miles off the deep end.  As many of you know, a freshman at Duke University recently revealed she's helping to pay her tuition by acting in porn films.  As degrading as that is, Ruse's reaction was even worse.  He claimed that this is evidence liberal academics should just be "taken out and shot."  No, this isn't snark--People for the American Way got a clip.
That is the nonsense that they teach in women’s studies at Duke University, this is where she learned this. The toxic stew of the modern university is gender studies, it’s “Sex Week,” they all have “Sex Week” and teaching people how to be sex-positive and overcome the patriarchy. My daughters go to a little private religious school and we pay an arm and a leg for it precisely to keep them away from all of this kind of nonsense. I do hope that they go to a Christian college or university and to keep them so far away from the hard left, human-hating people that run modern universities, who should all be taken out and shot.
This is unacceptable.  Period, full stop.  There is no way, no how that this sort of talk is protected speech.  There's a name for this kind of talk--incitement to violence.  The Wildmons need to pay for this, and pay dearly.  We need to demand that AFR apologize for this terroristic garbage being allowed on its airwaves, and I don't think it's out of line to complain to the FCC.  Check out a list of American Family Radio's licenses here if you want to file a complaint.
Thu Mar 13, 2014 at 5:38 AM PT: Several posters who are better versed than I am have said that Ruse's spew is protected speech--if barely.  There's nothing that says he can't be made to pay for this with his day job at Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, though.  And there's nothing that says American Family Radio can't be called out for this.

American Family Association defends Rick Perry's porno past

You would think that the American Family Association—the Christian extremist hate group that is forever seeking to answer the question "Who would Jesus boycott?"—would have a problem with teabagger darling and Bible-thumper Rick Perry's past investment in porn distributor Movie Gallery, Inc. After all, AFA has been leading a boycott of the company for the past decade, for its "hard-core sex videos" that "poses a serious threat to our communities!”
But AFA was also a sponsor of Perry's prayer-a-thon earlier this month, which, to the untrained ear, sure sounds a little hypocritical.
Alas, and praise Jesus, the AFA has found a loophole and wants everyone to know there is absolutely no hypocrisy in supporting Perry while boycotting a company in which he'd invested thousands of dollars. Via Wonkette:
Mr. Perry had divested himself of Movie Galley stock long before its involvement in the sale of pornography was even on the AFA’s radar, and five years before AFA launched its public boycott.
Oh. Well, that explains everything, doesn't it? Obviously, it would be downright un-Christian of AFA to hold Perry's investment against him since it all happened before AFA was paying attention. And shame on the media for being so unfair to Perry!
Tim Wildmon, president of AFA, said, “The media has taken a grossly unfair and gratuitous shot at Gov. Perry. This represents sloppy reporting at its worst. A simple call to AFA could have clarified the timeline for anyone interested in reporting the objective truth. This is the ultimate non-story, and every media outlet that carried this slander owes the governor an apology.”
Yes, yes, I'm sure the collective media will be issuing its apology to Perry any minute now.

FreedomWorks Is "Freaking Out" Over the Giant-Panda-Hillary-Clinton-Sex Video & FreedomWorks Made Video of Fake Giant Panda Having Sex With Fake Hillary Clinton 15&14FEB13

freedomworks, that right wing group touting it's "christian" credentials with a porn video including simulated bestiality and Hillary Clinton. Quite a testimony, that's for sure. From Mother Jones....

The story revealing that FreedomWorks produced a video with an obscene scene featuring a giant panda, Hillary Clinton, and oral sex created quite a stir and, according to former officials of the influential tea party group, had staffers at the conservative advocacy group and super-PAC "freaking out," as one put it. That was to be expected, especially since FreedomWorks is the target of an internal investigation mounted by its board of trustees after board members received "allegations of wrongdoing by the organization or its employees," according to a letter the board sent in December to Matt Kibbe, president of FreedomWorks. That probe is being conducted by two lawyers: Alfred Regnery, long a prominent figure in the conservative movement, and David Martin.
Readers of Thursday's article may have noticed that Kibbe, Adam Brandon, the executive vice president of the group (who appeared in the obscene video), and Jackie Bodnar, the director of communications for FreedomWorks, did not respond to repeated requests from Mother Jones for comments (and an explanation) regarding the bizarre video. James Burnley IV, one of the two trustees who initiated the internal inquiry, did offer a comment that suggested he might not have known of the video and that the investigation might have not yet learned of it. (Former FreedomWorks officials note that the production of the video could have entailed sexual harassment, given that two female interns were asked to play the roles of the giant panda and Hillary Clinton and act out a pretend sex scene.)
After the story was posted, the FreedomWorks gang was still officially keeping mum about the giant-panda-Hillary-Clinton-sex video. I did send Burnley this query, which referred to C. Boyden Gray, another board of trustees member:
Now that the allegations regarding the video are public, do you and C. Boyden Gray intend to ask Alfred Regnery and David Martin to investigate them?
So far, no response from Burnley. Yet two former FreedomWorks officials say that they believe Regnery and Martin will have no choice but to add the panda-Clinton-sex video to their to-do list.

RICK PERRY'S HARDCORE HISTORY OF INVESTMENT IN PORN 16AUG11

rick perry has that sleazy look that goes with porn....as well as the greed. As the Church Lady would say, "Weeellllll, isn't that special". From Politico....

Rick Perry prays with Reverend C. L. Jackson
Here’s the story of how Rick Perry’s name became synonymous with “Teens with T*ts” in some circles. I’ve tried to make this safe for work, but if it’s not, blame Rick Perry, for such are the perils of reporting on good “Christians” like Mr James Richard Perry. If your employer has a problem with this, tell them to see Rick Perry; it’s his money trail we’re following.
Perhaps when you see Rick Perry’s bouffant pompadour, you don’t immediately think “cheerleader”, but pom-pon carrier he was, albeit for Texas A & M instead of the Bush Yale pom-pons that heralded the destruction of America’s economy. But you’re all right with pom-pons on a man. To each their own. You might not be OK with the whole Lieutenant Governor to George W Bush thing. You might not be OK with Perry’s theocratic beliefs. But truthfully, when you picture the handsome, smirking Rick Perry and his Texas down home drawl, are you thinking about pornography?
“Teens Never Say No” kind of pornography? How about “Teens with T*ts”? No? How about “Bisexual Barebacking Vol. 1” or “Big Tit Brotha Lovers 6”?
Kinda makes you all warm and family values-ish.
Rick Perry, God’s Chosen to pray Texas into prosperity, invested as a private citizen in Movie Gallery corporation to the tune of between 5-10k according to his 1995 personal financial reports. Movie Gallery was, at that time, the largest distributor of porn in America, and able to sell and rent regular videos for much cheaper than the competition due to their heady porn profit. The ultra conservative American Family Association (AFA), a self-described “Christian organization promoting the biblical ethic of decency in American society with primary emphasis on TV and other media” known for “(i)nitiating, encouraging Christian Activism,” but also now an officially designated hate group according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, begged the government to investigate Movie Gallery.
In the ensuing years, the AFA went so far as to undertake a national ad campaign to draw attention to Movie Gallery’s porn practices, and wrote the DoJ and state AG’s demanding, “DOJ and State Prosecutors throughout the country should begin immediate investigations to determine if the products and practices of Movie Gallery Video Stores violate Federal and State laws regarding distribution of obscene material. Movie Gallery is one of America’s largest retailers of hard-core sex videos. Their attempt to acquire family friendly neighborhood Hollywood Video stores across the U.S. poses a serious threat to our communities!”
The AFA has also boycotted such companies as 7-Eleven, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Airlines, American Girl, Blockbuster Video, Burger King, Calvin Klein, Carl’s Jr., Clorox, Comcast, Crest, Ford, Hallmark Cards, Kmart, Kraft Foods, S. C. Johnson & Son, Microsoft, MTV, Mary Kay, NutriSystem, Old Navy, IKEA, Sears, Pampers, Procter & Gamble, Target, Tide, Walt Disney Company, and PepsiCo with varying degrees of success.
Burt Orange Reports said it appeared as if local authorities in Texas dragged their feet responding to the cries for investigations, in spite of the fact that The Politics In Porn (note that this link from 2006 is no longer working and the domain name is now available — don’t say I never did anything for you) wrote, “Government Officials who have been given the evidence of this illegal operation are … the U.S. District attys for the Northern Districts of Alabama and Texas.”
Not only is the AFA is a core constituency of an extreme, far Christian-right candidate, but as Hrafnkell Haraldsson reported for PoliticusUSA, Perry teamed up with the AFA for his recent prayer day rally, “The Response, a Call to Prayer for a Nation in Crisis.” Just this March, we saw then Presidential candidacy hopefuls Newt Gingrich, Haley Barbour and Mike Huckabee courting the AFA by appearing on Bryan Fisher’s radio show. So it’s puzzling that Perry invested his money in something he must have been aware violated the very core of his alleged pro-life, pro-family, pro-conservative values. However, Perry put his holdings into a blind trust in 1998, and hence, no one knows if he is still profiting off of pornography. Perhaps the AFA doesn’t care if their Presidential pick is profiting off of pornography so allegedly obscene that they demanded the DoJ investigate.
Rick Perry later passed laws to help companies like Movie Gallery avoid “frivolous” tort suits, after they were sued for allegedly violating the law by illegally distributing porn across state lines. This move was seen by some as a move to protect his investment in Movie Gallery, as he used the very word Movie Gallery used (“frivolous”) regarding the lawsuits they were fighting at the time.
Written on Jun 26, 2006, the Burnt Orange Report elaborated on Perry’s porn problem:
Coincidentally, Rick Perry used similar language when signing the tort-reform bill that limited the liability—thereby increasing profits—of companies like Movie Gallery. Perry said the bill would “remov[e] the incentive for trial lawyers to file frivolous lawsuits.” Continuing Perry said, “we will save thousands of jobs, generate millions in new revenue to the state;” only some of those jobs come at the price of young girl’s physical and psychological health.
The AFA has undertaken a nationwide campaign—advertising in USA Today and Washington Post—urging government officials to investigate Movie Gallery. Many local authorities—like the U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of Texas—are allegedly dragging their feet. With Gov. Perry owning stock in Movie Gallery, his financial interests contravene the success of any such investigation….
“Titles that Gov. Perry helps bring to Texas’ shelves include Teens with Tits Vol. 1, Teen Power Vol. 4, and Teens Never Say No.
While many disagree over society’s correct policy towards pornography, Perry’s political posturing caters to pornography’s opponents. Duplicitously, Rick Perry’s supposed politics contravene the interests of his own pocketbook. There is the Governor who endorses a plan to monitor sex offenders with satellites; then there is businessman who enjoys profits by funding such titles as Bisexual Barebacking Vol. 1 and Big Tit Brotha Lovers 6. There is the proud husband and father who announced an award of $7.4 Million to the S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act programs; then there is the man who invested in North America’s largest pornography distributor. In the coming weeks, there will doubtlessly be the ignorant, apologetic Governor, but under that thin veneer of good hair is the cunning financier who still hides his assets in a blind trust fund.
Given that traditionally conservative states consume the most online porn, according to the Journal of Economic Perspectives (which looked at zip codes of credit cards used for online adult entertainment), we can’t assume that just because a group is against something in public they aren’t engaging in it in private. But the Dominionists like Perry and Bachmann are taking us a step down even from that perilous perch — to a place where women are expected to be subservient to the men in their life.
If you’re still slightly confused as to why the AFA isn’t calling Rick Perry out, and how conservatives can ignore such glaring hypocrisy, it’s because they worship at the altar of a political movement based on belief in authoritarianism and a sense of entitlement for “the Chosen”. Anything that Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, or Sarah Palin do is OK. God said so. And their cult-like followers will contort themselves into a breathless internet rage in order to explain to you that none of this matters, what really matters is that the President is a Muslim Socialists Kenyan Nazi. Apparently this line of “thinking” suffices for them because they are in a cult based on belief and not real values, but also because they have bought into the meme that these special leaders are exempt from accountability for what they say. This is why you see the outrage over “gotcha” journalism from the same folks.
What kind of man are we dealing with in Rick Perry? Is he still profiting off of what the AFA calls obscene pornography? Is he still making money off of titles like “Teens with Tits”? In keeping with this line of inquiry into his purported “family values”, we note that Perry also kept on the director of the Texas Film Commission who was disciplined for sexual harassment…twice.
The Statesman reported, “Gov. Rick Perry’s outgoing director of the Texas Film Commission has been allowed to stay on the job despite being disciplined for sexual harassment in 2009 and after a subsequent investigation found similar behavior again this year.”
What disturbs me about these two facts is how well they dovetail with the Dominionists’ ideas about women being subservient to the patriarch.
The twin balls of decorative fluff known as the cheerleader’s Pom-pons aptly sum up the depth of Rick Perry’s alleged Christian family values. On one hand, we have a man invested in and profiting off of what the AFA called “obscene pornography” and a man who allowed a man twice found guilty of sexual harassment to remain in his government position. On the other hand, this same man calls himself a “family-values” Christian, and nary a peep comes from the Right to call him out.
It’s not about whether you agree with conservative values or not (but this is often how the conservatives distract people from calling their leaders out, by making it about the alleged values rather than the failure to uphold said values), but rather whether or not the candidate actually stands for what they say they stand for.
If Rick Perry doesn’t walk the talk of a conservative Christian, just what does Rick Perry stand for?

Image: Not sure if this is the actual image for Movie Gallery’s video on this topic as I am not up on these matters, but it was the least offensive of the offerings and at any rate, we’ve attempted to make it safe for work without taking away from the point. I apologize preemptively for the vulgarity of reporting on Rick Perry and the word used in the video title.

This Week in National Insecurity: Big Gay Edition 8JUL11

$120, 000, 000.00 FOR MILITARY MARCHING BANDS??? This was put BACK in the budget????? This and more on our National Insecurity from MOJO......
Need a recharge, America? Take a break from Nancy Grace and Casey Anthony to consider the week that was in military madness. In this installment: Obama makes a big pro-gay military appointment, a soldier makes bad decisions with an inflatable girl, Al Qaeda is in stitches—literally—and Republicans want more money for Sousaphones.
The sitrep:
  • President Obama has appointed an openly gay West Point alumna to the military academy's board of visitors. Brenda Sue Fulton graduated with the first class to admit women and served honorably as an Army signal officer. She also cofounded Knights Out, an LGBT alumni group, and she's lent her support to gay and lesbian cadets. "West Point could implement repeal just fine without me," she told the New York Times. "But if my appointment helps West Point send the message to young men and women that—whether you are male or female, straight or gay—if you are qualified to serve, you are welcome; if it does that, then I'll be happy." (Army Times/NYT)
  • An Army officer named Justin Dale Little Jim is facing burglary and destruction of property charges after he was found in the closet of a Manassas, Virginia, adult video store at 2:45 a.m., "attempting to have sexual relations with" a blowup doll. Authorities say they sent a police dog into the store, who led his handlers to Little Jim. Good…dog? (Army Times)
  • The Pentagon is asking Congress if it would mind shifting $5 billion in the defense budget so the military can buy more bombs. To replace all the bombs it's used. In Libya. (Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments)
  • If true, the terrorists' plans for human bombs probably trump a new $48.2 million Pentagon contract with the maker of the "SET CounterBomber® system," which "integrates radar and video to yield the first-ever system capable of automatically detecting suicide bombers at safe distances." It does not, however, X-ray the target. (Battleland)
  • Remember when House Republicans said it was time to really cut government waste, and a Democrat actually cut waste by reducing the military's half-billion-dollar budget for marching bands? Now, in an about-face, the House has restored funding. Rep. John Carter (R-Texas) says that military bands are a key factor in the patriotism "that keeps our soldiers' hearts beating fast." Geez, can't they get the same effect with blowup dolls? (Military Times)

House votes to restore cash for military bands

WASHINGTON — The Republican-controlled House is singing a different tune about spending cuts for military bands.
By voice vote Wednesday, the House restored $120 million for the armed services’ 100-plus military bands — money that budget-conscious members of the Appropriations Committee had cut last month amid the nation’s financial woes.
Rep. John Carter, R-Texas, argued that the cut wouldn’t save taxpayers any money and the bands are a critical part of the patriotism “that keeps our soldiers’ hearts beating fast.”
Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., countered that while the nation takes pride in the bands, spending on them had gotten out of control.
The vote came on the $649 billion defense spending bill. The House is expected to pass the legislation by week’s end.

USS Enterprise Video Scandal: Navy Commander Revealed As Mastermind Behind Raunchy Videos 2JAN11

WEEEEELLLL, ISN'T THIS SPECIAL!!!! No worries about the repeal of DADT on this big boat, that's for sure! How can anyone be expected to respect any of the officers supposedly running this boat? But the Navy and the Pentagon will do their best to cover this up, and nobody will be held responsible....
HERE IS A UPDATE FROM NPR ON 4JAN11, THE ORIGINAL POST FOLLOWS.....

Update: USS Enterprise Captain Relieved Of Command

Update at 2:22 p.m. ET: From the Pentagon, NPR's Tom Bowman reports that Adm. John Harvey, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command, just made the formal announcement that Capt. Owen Honors has been permanently relieved of command of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. Harvey cited what he said was Honors' "profound lack of good judgment" in making the raunchy videos that came to light this week.
And, "I have lost faith in his ability to command the Enterprise," Harvey added.
Update at 10:18 a.m. ET: NPR's Tom Bowman has also now confirmed the news that USS Enterprise Capt. Owen Honors will be relieved of his command
Update at 10:05 a.m. ET: We've changed the headline on this post to reflect the breaking news from CNN and the AP that "senior defense officials" say USS Enterprise Capt. Owen Honors will be relieved of his command because of raunchy videos he produced and broadcast to the crew aboard the aircraft carrier.
Our original post — Enterprise Captain's Career 'Likely Sunk' By Videos:
The headline at The Virginian-Pilot this morning asks whether Capt. Owen Honors of the USS Enterprise is "Sunk?"
On its website, the newspaper is a bit more definitive: "Enterprise Skipper's Career Is Likely Sunk, Experts Say."
The top of its story:
"While the Navy issued no formal word Monday as to whether Capt. Owen Honors will retain his position as commander of the aircraft carrier Enterprise, military experts said his Navy career is almost certainly over."
That certainly seems to be in line with what JJ reported yesterday, that "Getting Fired By The Navy Isn't Hard To Do."
In case you're just catching up on this story, we reported yesterday on the videos Honors made — and showed to the 6,000 or so sailors and Marines aboard the Enterprise — several years ago when he was the aircraft carrier's second-in-command. Meant to be entertaining, they included anti-gay slurs, simulated masturbation, the simulated eating of human excrement, a discussion of profanity and sexually-themed shower scenes.
There is an online effort underway to show support for  Honors. A Facebook page called "Support Captain Owen Honors - USS Enterprise" has more than 6,600 "friends" at this hour. On the ship's official Facebook page, there's a spirited discussion underway that includes messages of support for Honors and messages that condemn his actions.
Navy Times is asking its online readers for their opinions on what should happen to Honors and his superior officers.
Update at 10 a.m. ET. The Associated Press just moved this "alert":
"Defense officials: Navy will relieve aircraft carrier commander over sexually explicit videos."

USS Enterprise Video Scandal: Navy Commander Revealed As Mastermind Behind Raunchy Videos 2JAN11

UPDATED: This story has been updated to include the full statement released by the U.S. Navy on matters addressed in the story below.
Owen Honors, Captain of the Norfolk-based USS Enterprise, was revealed as the producer of a series of "raunchy" videos made aboard the Navy carrier several years ago in a report released by the Virginian-Pilot on Saturday.
Filmed in 2006 and 2007 when Honors was the Enterprises's executive officer, the clips were reportedly shown to 6,000 sailors and U.S. Marines on the ship as part of what was called "XO Movie Night."
The Pilot reports:
In one scene, two female Navy sailors stand in a shower stall aboard the aircraft carrier, pretending to wash each other. They joke about how they should get six minutes under the water instead of the mandated three. In other skits, sailors parade in drag, use anti-gay slurs, and simulate masturbation and a rectal exam. Another scene implies that an officer is having sex in his stateroom with a donkey.
According to the Virginia-based outlet, the videos were made with government equipment. Some were reportedly produced at times when the ship was actively deployed to help the country's war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sailors, who declined to be identified by name, indicated to the Pilot that the footage in question was broadcast on a weekly basis aboard the ship.
Honors, who is expected to deploy in upcoming weeks, suggests in the videos that his intent in generating the content was for entertainment purposes. The Pilot reports that the clips drew complaints from female sailors aboard the carrier who found the material offensive.
The Navy issued a statement (full text below) on the matter appearing to downplay any hint of controversy.
"The videos were intended to be humorous skits focusing the crew's attention on specific issues such as port visits, traffic safety, water conservation, ship cleanliness, etc," said a written statement, according to the Pilot.
Honors himself acknowledges in one clip the controversial nature of the videos. "Over the years I've gotten several complaints about inappropriate materials in these videos," he says. "Never to me personally but, gutlessly, through other channels."
Here's full text of the statement released by the Navy in response to the initial story published by the Virginian-Pilot:
The videos created onboard USS Enterprise in 2006-2007 and written about in The Virginian-Pilot article on Saturday, January 1, 2011, are clearly inappropriate. Production of videos, like the ones produced four to five years ago on USS Enterprise and now being written about in The Virginian-Pilot, were not acceptable then and are not acceptable in today's Navy. The Navy does not endorse or condone these kinds of actions. Those in command, Commanding Officers, Executive Officers, and Command Master Chiefs (the command triad) are charged to lead by example and are held accountable for setting the proper tone and upholding the standards of honor, courage and commitment that we expect Sailors to exemplify. U.S. Fleet Forces Command has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the production of these videos.

Ben Quayle, Raised Right, Writes for TheDirty.com 25AUG10 & Ben Quayle forced to admit series of blunders in run for Congress

SO ben quayle wan't to be a representative in D.C. so he can bring Christian values to the government and the people....too bad he isn't as interested in following these values in his own life....writing as a pseudo porn star on a local Arizona website and deceiving the electorate in one of his own campaign adds by claiming his nieces were his daughters. Yeah, he'll be a real guiding light for the nation......
If you see a politician cut a commercial in which he brags about his Christian ethics, then you know something's gonna pop up (bad visual pun, I know) that will just knock him down. It's called karma, baby.
Ben Quayle, son of "Worst VP in the History of Well Everything, Including Spelling" Dan Quayle, did recently brag on video that he was raised right and that's why he should be Arizona's next congressman, but it turns out that there's a bit more going on behind the scenes.
Shockingly enough, Mr. I've Been Raised Right guest blogged for the site TheDirty.com under the name Brock Landers. This story was broken by the liberal lamestream media, and of course Ben Quayle's camp spent a lot of energy denying the hell out of it.

To add to the hilarity, if you go to TheDirty.com, you'll see that the site has published a piece saying that Ben Quayle really is Brock Landers, really, despite all his public denials. If you want an afternoon of fun, read the comments.
So what's my take on all this? I'd say that 90% of the people in your life have some kind of hidden thing going on right now. They like to visit adult web sites, or they're swingers, or they just like to go clubbing and let it all hang out. So it's hard for me to get worked up about lifestyle choices.
What I do get worked up about is the hypocrisy. Don't say things like "I was raised right" and be part of a larger movement shoving your morality and Christian values in everyone's face and then run around buck naked on the weekends.
If at some point Mr. Quayle had just come out and said, "Yeah, I threw down some inappropriate blog posts a few times, just to pay the bills or drive traffic or because I liked it" then I would have had a little bitty bit of respect. Not much, but just a little.
Instead, what he ends up looking like is a hypocritical ignoramus, and not simply a run-of-the-mill ignoramus.
True to form, though, Ben Quayle has won the GOP primary for his congressional seat. I wonder if any of the women Ben Quayle wrote about will vote for him in the general election?
PS. TheDirty.com has published a series of questions people should ask Ben Quayle about his life. More hilariousness.
PPS. In other news, this blogger has been known to frequent freaky online locales.

Ben Quayle forced to admit series of blunders in run for Congress

The son of the gaffe-prone former vice-president Dan Quayle has been forced to admit to a series of blunders in his own bid for political office.

Ben Quayle, a 33-year-old lawyer who is running for Congress in Arizona, has revealed that he used to contribute to a racy website about nightlife in the Arizona city of Scottsdale.
According to Nik Richie, founder of TheDirty.com, Mr Quayle used the alias "Brock Landers," the name of a character in Boogie Nights, a 1997 film about adult movie stars in California, to make his posts.
They are said to have included lines such as "My moral compass is so broken I can barely find the parking lot."
Mr Quayle was also said to have boasted of his physique, comparing it to one of Michelangelo's works in the Sistine Chapel.
The candidate said he could not recall what his posts involved, or when he made them, but admitted writing "a couple of satirical and fictional pieces for a satirical website". He has called Mr Richie a "smut peddler."
The controversy came a few days after Mr Quayle sent out a campaign picture showing his wife and two young girls with the words: "We are going to raise our family here."
However, he and his wife have no children and the girls were later revealed to be his nieces, leading a campaign rival to accuse him of "renting a family".
The political mis-steps by the younger Quayle have revived memories of gaffes by his father, who was US vice-president in the administration of President George H W Bush.
The senior Quayle was ridiculed after he failed to spell "potato" correctly when making a public appearance at a school.
His other famous gaffes included pronouncements including: "What a waste it is to lose one's mind." Ben The younger Mr Quayle said: "I know I have a big target on my back. Having the last name of Quayle, we're used to being made fun of and some parody and having things that aren't true being said about you."
