AT&T funded the Texas abortion ban
Can you sign the petition and demand AT&T stop funding abortion extremists?
This is a red alert from Texas: S.B.8, the law that bans abortion at just six weeks of pregnancy and puts bounties on anyone who may have helped someone access abortion care has gone into effect in Texas after the Supreme Court refused to stop it in a dastardly 5-4 decision under the cloak of night. Abortion has been virtually banned in Texas.1 And AT&T funded the politicians who passed this bill.
Under this law, anyone who "aids or abets" an abortion could face legal consequences, including a friend or family member who gives a woman a ride to a clinic, or abortion care providers who provide non-medical services.2 This horrifying law is perhaps the most far-reaching anti-abortion law ever. The law essentially bans abortion by restricting abortion after six weeks, before many people even know they are pregnant. But that's not all.
It gets worse: Anti-abortion extremists are getting ready to move through similar laws in other states in the South and Midwest. Now, with the blessing of the Supreme Court. The implications for abortion rights, and so many other rights, are vast and dire.
How do these extreme laws keep getting introduced and passed? Mega-corporations like AT&T, which is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, hold massive power and fund anti-women candidates. The #ReproReceipts compiled by UltraViolet show that AT&T has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to sponsors of this law, including state Representative Jeff Leach. AT&T gave Rep. Leach $15,000 in 2020. That is big bucks in a state-level race and often can mean the difference between a candidate winning or losing. In fact, AT&T supported four of the five primary sponsors of this law in 2020, according to internal UltraViolet research.
If AT&T feels consumer heat for funding the politicians behind this law, we might be able to force AT&T to speak out against the law and stop funding the extremist politicians behind it.
Thanks for speaking out!

Veteran NBC News Reporter Resigns, Says Network 'Could No Longer Keep Up With The World' & NBC News veteran warns of 'Trump circus' in 2,228-word farewell 2JAN19

IT is too bad William Arkin didn't have the courage to raise these issues in his reporting for NBC, that he didn't have the courage to risk being fired by NBC for challenging the cowardliness of American mainstream media, the perpetual warstate that our nation has become, endorsed and promoted by republicans and too many Democrats as well as most religions in America and the greed and war profiteering of the military-industrial complex. His after the fact condemnation is as hypocritical as the proclamations by republican politicians who just resigned because of their "disgust and disappointment" with drumpf / trump and republican politics after supporting his election, voting for his policies while in office and not opposing the drumphian / trumpian candidates running to replace them in office. Arkin has his profits from being mainstream media while being aware of the damage to the nation and world being done and is now trying to be a prophet. It will be interesting to see how often he proclaims his new message and what he does to actually address the issues he raises.....
Veteran NBC News Reporter Resigns, Says Network 'Could No Longer Keep Up With The World'
"I find it disheartening that we do not report the failures of the generals and national security leaders," he said. "I find it shocking that we essentially condone continued American bumbling in the Middle East and now Africa through our ho-hum reporting."__He said that most of his critiques of NBC apply to the rest of the news media, as well.Years ago, he said, "particularly as the social media wave began, it was clear that NBC (like the rest of the news media) could no longer keep up with the world. Added to that was the intellectual challenge of how to report our new kind of wars when there were no real fronts and no actual measures of success."__Arkin is inclined to agree with some of Trump's isolationist instincts, though he called Trump an "ignorant and incompetent impostor."__"And yet," he wrote, "I'm alarmed at how quick NBC is to mechanically argue the contrary, to be in favor of policies that just spell more conflict and more war."
There is not a soul in Washington who can say that they have won or stopped any conflict. And though there might be the beloved perfumed princes in the form of the Petraeus' and Wes Clarks', or the so-called warrior monks like Mattis and McMaster, we've had more than a generation of national security leaders who sadly and fraudulently have done little of consequence. And yet we (and others) embrace them, even the highly partisan formers who masquerade as "analysts". We do so ignoring the empirical truth of what they have wrought: There is not one county in the Middle East that is safer today than it was 18 years ago.
….our biggest challenge as we move forward is that we have become exhausted parents of our infant (and infantile) social media children. And because of the "cycle," we at NBC (and all others in the field of journalism) suffer from a really bad case of not being able to ever take a breath. We are a long way from resolving the rules of the road in this age, whether it be with regard to our personal conduct or anything related to hard news. I also don't think that we are on a straight line towards digital nirvana, that is, that all of this information will democratize and improve society. I sense that there is already smartphone and social media fatigue creeping across the land, and my guess is that nothing we currently see -- nothing that is snappy or chatty -- will solve our horrific challenges of information overload or the role (and nature) of journalism. And I am sure that once Trump leaves center stage, society will have a gigantic media hangover.

"Laakiin in ay dhacdo Carlos, waxaan u maleynayaa inuu ku samaysay laga yaabaa in badan oo dad badan halkan meeshan abid isaga laga siiyey.

THIS from +Mother Jones says it all....Just wait till these people loose their health insurance!!!!!
These Folks Loved Trump. Until Their Friend Was Taken Away.
A community that supported Trump sees one of its prized members detained in a Trump raid and wonders, what just happened?
Juan Carlos Hernandez Pacheco — just Carlos to the people of West Frankfort — has been the manager of La Fiesta, a Mexican restaurant in this city of 8,000, for a decade. Yes, he always greeted people warmly at the cheerfully decorated restaurant, known for its beef and chicken fajitas. ... [O]ne night last fall, when the Fire Department was battling a two-alarm blaze, Mr. Hernandez suddenly appeared with meals for the firefighters. How he hosted a Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at the restaurant last summer as police officers were facing criticism around the country. How he took part in just about every community committee or charity effort — the Rotary Club, cancer fund-raisers, cleanup days, even scholarships for the Redbirds, the high school sports teams, which are the pride of this city.
Ask residents of this coal-mining crossroads about President Trump's decision to crack down on undocumented immigrants and most offer no protest. Mr. Trump, who easily won this mostly white southern Illinois county, is doing what he promised, they say. As Terry Chambers, a barber on Main Street, put it, the president simply wants "to get rid of the bad eggs."
"I think people need to do things the right way, follow the rules and obey the laws, and I firmly believe in that," said Lori Barron, the owner of Lori's Hair A'Fairs, a beauty salon. "But in the case of Carlos, I think he may have done more for the people here than this place has ever given him. I think it's absolutely terrible that he could be taken away."
