If you see a politician cut a commercial in which he brags about his Christian ethics, then you know something's gonna pop up (bad visual pun, I know) that will just knock him down. It's called karma, baby.
Ben Quayle, son of "Worst VP in the History of Well Everything, Including Spelling" Dan Quayle, did recently brag on video that he was raised right and that's why he should be Arizona's next congressman, but it turns out that there's a bit more going on behind the scenes.
Shockingly enough, Mr. I've Been Raised Right guest blogged for the site TheDirty.com under the name Brock Landers. This story was broken by the liberal lamestream media, and of course Ben Quayle's camp spent a lot of energy denying the hell out of it.
To add to the hilarity, if you go to TheDirty.com, you'll see that the site has published a piece saying that Ben Quayle really is Brock Landers, really, despite all his public denials. If you want an afternoon of fun, read the comments.
So what's my take on all this? I'd say that 90% of the people in your life have some kind of hidden thing going on right now. They like to visit adult web sites, or they're swingers, or they just like to go clubbing and let it all hang out. So it's hard for me to get worked up about lifestyle choices.
What I do get worked up about is the hypocrisy. Don't say things like "I was raised right" and be part of a larger movement shoving your morality and Christian values in everyone's face and then run around buck naked on the weekends.
If at some point Mr. Quayle had just come out and said, "Yeah, I threw down some inappropriate blog posts a few times, just to pay the bills or drive traffic or because I liked it" then I would have had a little bitty bit of respect. Not much, but just a little.
Instead, what he ends up looking like is a hypocritical ignoramus, and not simply a run-of-the-mill ignoramus.
True to form, though, Ben Quayle has won the GOP primary for his congressional seat. I wonder if any of the women Ben Quayle wrote about will vote for him in the general election?

Ben Quayle forced to admit series of blunders in run for Congress
The son of the gaffe-prone former vice-president Dan Quayle has been forced to admit to a series of blunders in his own bid for political office.

Ben Quayle, a 33-year-old lawyer who is running for Congress in Arizona, has revealed that he used to contribute to a racy website about nightlife in the Arizona city of Scottsdale.
According to Nik Richie, founder of TheDirty.com, Mr Quayle used the alias "Brock Landers," the name of a character in Boogie Nights, a 1997 film about adult movie stars in California, to make his posts.
They are said to have included lines such as "My moral compass is so broken I can barely find the parking lot."
Mr Quayle was also said to have boasted of his physique, comparing it to one of Michelangelo's works in the Sistine Chapel.
The candidate said he could not recall what his posts involved, or when he made them, but admitted writing "a couple of satirical and fictional pieces for a satirical website". He has called Mr Richie a "smut peddler."
The controversy came a few days after Mr Quayle sent out a campaign picture showing his wife and two young girls with the words: "We are going to raise our family here."
However, he and his wife have no children and the girls were later revealed to be his nieces, leading a campaign rival to accuse him of "renting a family".
The political mis-steps by the younger Quayle have revived memories of gaffes by his father, who was US vice-president in the administration of President George H W Bush.
The senior Quayle was ridiculed after he failed to spell "potato" correctly when making a public appearance at a school.
His other famous gaffes included pronouncements including: "What a waste it is to lose one's mind." Ben The younger Mr Quayle said: "I know I have a big target on my back. Having the last name of Quayle, we're used to being made fun of and some parody and having things that aren't true being said about you."
