CIR returned to Climate Week NYC this year with our friends from the Climate Reality Project, the SEEC Institute, and the Tishman Environment and Design Center at the New School to present Building Local to Global Climate Coalitions Powered by Communities.
At a time when environmental policy, funding, and research are under assault, we wanted to convene a conversation between grassroots organizations on the frontlines of getting the message to communities and policymakers, philanthropists, and academics nationally. Rep. Kathy Castor (D-Fla.), Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb, Climate Reality Project CEO Phyllis Cuttino, and leaders from as far as Hawaii to the streets of New York City talked about their environmental efforts. It was great to see leaders at every level talking through challenges and what we can do collectively. Meaningful leadership on climate change is unlikely to come from Washington, DC, so it will truly take all of us to enact change.

The Mother Jones events team was proud to present these powerful programs just weeks apart, with our thanks to fiscal sponsors Rachel Carson Council and the Solar Energy Industries Association for their generous support to help produce these in-person meetups.
I also thank you, our audience, for supporting our organization for almost 50 years. There is no Mother Jones or Reveal without your support, so I thank you. Expect to hear from me again early next year, when Mother Jones turns 50! We have several things we’re working on that we think you’ll be excited about.
Until then, take care.
Khary
