Shortly after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue military operations in Lebanon, directly defying international demands for a ceasefire, Israel on Friday unleashed a fresh round of airstrikes in the suburbs of Beirut. The latest attack, at least in my view, once again demonstrates Netanyahu's ironclad resistance to ending mass death—now in Lebanon, as Israel seeks to weaken Hezbollah. This after nearly a year of catastrophic bloodshed in Gaza as Israel attempts to eliminate Hamas. An Israeli official told CNN that today's airstrikes in Lebanon—which wiped out several large buildings in the area—targeted Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. It's not clear if the operation was successful, but an initial report points to no. —Inae Oh
