I spent some time on the campaign trail with Tim last week.
And I can tell you that with just 40 days until Election Day, folks are engaged and excited about this race -- and about sending Tim Kaine to the Senate and re-electing President Obama.
Folks know that we need more people in Congress who understand that we can't grow our economy and create jobs by neglecting to invest in education, infrastructure, and research and development. We need leaders who recognize that the only way we're going to get anything done is by setting aside the partisan rhetoric and putting our country first.
I know that Tim is that kind of leader. Virginians know it too -- I can feel the strong grassroots momentum behind his campaign. But polling shows that this race is in a dead heat -- and to get to the Senate, Tim is counting on your support.
Make a contribution today to help Tim reach his goal of raising $500,000 before the important September fundraising deadline.
Tim says that Virginians want our leaders to do three things: improve the economy, fix the budget, and find common ground. He's right -- and that's exactly what we did right here in Virginia when I was Governor and he was Lieutenant Governor.
After inheriting a fiscal mess from our predecessors, we worked across the aisle with Democratic and Republican legislators to implement a balanced approach to Virginia's budget -- cutting spending while still making critical investments.
Tim and I were an effective team because he understands that governing isn't about tearing down folks from the other party -- it's about partnering with everybody to get things done for the good of our Commonwealth and country.
We got results in Virginia. And by supporting Tim today, you can help ensure that we can do the same thing in Washington.
Contribute today to help Tim reach his goal and make sure he has the resources he needs to join me in the Senate.
Thank you for joining me in supporting Tim. With your support, he'll be Virginia's next (junior) senator.
