When Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke dared to testify that birth control is essential to women's health, Rush Limbaugh spent three days calling her a slut and demanding she mnake sex videos for his amusement.
Pro-choice Democratic women in Congress like Gwendolyn Moore and Jackie Speier quickly stood up to Limbaugh and urged his advertisers to cancel their ads. Thousands of progressive activists joined the fight and 140 key advertisers have now canceled. Without ad revenues, local stations are cancelling his show altogether.
These huge victories demonstrate the power of electing fearless women leaders to Congress. So let's stand with EMILY's List to elect even more pro-choice Democratic women Senators and Representatives.
Thanks for all you do!

FROM EMILY'S LIST
Sandra Fluke is the Georgetown Law student who was denied the right to testify in front of the sham, no-women-allowed hearing that Republicans held on access to birth control. When Democrats gave her the chance to testify, she was a very brave, intelligent, and articulate advocate for women. Rush Limbaugh, in response, launched a ruthless and completely disgusting attack. He said that she wanted to be "paid to have sex." Then this: "What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? Makes her a prostitute." And then he said that he wants her to post videos of her having sex online so that he can watch. Attacking women is nothing new for Rush Limbaugh (or Republicans), but this time he has gone too far. Keeping women out of decisions about critical health policy is unacceptable, but assaulting them for standing up for the health care they deserve is truly outrageous. We can't let the Republican crusade against women's rights and access to essential health care continue. Please support the work of EMILY's List to elect pro-choice Democratic women who will stand up to rightwing extremists like Rush Limbaugh! Stephanie Schriock President, EMILY’s List |
