Friends-
This morning, as rain began to pour down on Washington DC, the 322nd person was handcuffed for participating in the Tar Sands Action.
That's an impressive show of love towards everyone who will be impacted by this pipeline from from Alberta to the Gulf Coast, and an expression of hope that if enough of us stand up, the President will join us and reject Keystone XL.
As more of you start to arrive in DC, I think it's important to note the impact that the action is already having.
The message from our media team is: "Stay strong - this is working."
In the past week, Bill McKibben has gone on television at Al Jazeera, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and Democracy Now!, and done scores of interviews with radio stations and newspapers across the country. Earlier this week we were the top story on the Huffington Post, one of the top sites on the web. The action has also been featured in major political journals The Hill and Politico - a sure sign that we're reaching the President and his staff. We've also had articles written about us in both the Washington Post and New York Times.

Also,
your bold action has inspired the nation's top environmental groups to unite and step up their commitment to stop Keystone XL. Leaders of the Natural Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club, Environmental Defense Fund, National Wildlife Federation, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, and Rainforest Action Network all released a joint letter to the President saying that "there is not an inch of daylight between our policy position on the Keystone Pipeline and those of the very civil protesters being arrested daily outside the White House." We still want to get on the major television networks and other big publications, but our press team thinks we're on the way to a breakthrough on this front. We need to put in a little more work to take this action to the next level.
So far our numbers have held steady every day, but we need to keep growing if we want to make our mark. If we show that momentum is building behind this action, we can bring more media attention and put more heat on the President to make the right decision. Can you pass along this email to two friends, and encourage them to join the action? The link to sign up is here:

We're doing amazing things together. Everyone here is looking forward to seeing what we'll be able to do in the coming days.
