Zephyr Teachout just announced that she is running for the U.S. House in New York’s open 19th Congressional District. Zephyr is an activist, lawyer, anti-corruption crusader, and nationally-known “Warren wing” rising star.
When Zephyr challenged corporate Democrat Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary for governor in 2014, she won the majority of counties -- shocking political observers. The media reported:
Slate Magazine: Teachout has become a phenomenon.
The New Yorker: Zephyr Teachout’s achievement signaled to other Democrats, Hillary Clinton included, that the political center of gravity has shifted, and that a significant segment of Democratic voters won’t suffer gladly a return to the timid, pro-corporate policies of the Clinton years, which Cuomo represents.
Washington Post: If Teachout's ideas gain broad approval nationally or influence in Washington, they'll have followed the same trajectory as those of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).
