FORMER SEN JOHN WARNER R VA ENDORSES SEN MARK WARNER D VA 27JAN14

When John Warner was a Senator bipartisanship was actually possible. Now, the gop agenda is controlled by their leaderships faux fear of the tea-baggers agenda and their lack of the moral courage to stand up to them. But they don't have to challenge the tea-baggers and the right-wing extremist in their party and try to moderate their class warfare, their pro rich, pro corporate America, pro war, pro plutocracy policies. That's because there are weak, morally corrupt, third way democrats like Mark Warner who will give in to their demands, so they win and the 99% loses. Who would have thought that Sen Elizabeth Warren D MA would have bigger stones than Sen Mark Warner, but she does, making him look like a eunoch.

Mark Warner "has proven himself to be very much like I was, reaching across the aisle.” -- Former Republican US Senator John Warner, 1/27/14

I’m writing you to share some great news. Today, former Republican US Senator John Warner endorsed our campaign for US Senate.

When I was sworn in to represent the people of Virginia in the US Senate five years ago this month, I asked John Warner to accompany me at the ceremony. At the time, I said that, “John Warner epitomizes what it means to be a senator… He is irreplaceable.”

Those words ring just as true today.

John and I certainly don’t see eye to eye on everything; in fact we have spirited differences of opinion on some issues. But John understands better than anyone that in order to break the gridlock in Washington, we need to set aside our differences, work across the aisle, and forge common ground to deliver real results for our Commonwealth and our country.

It is the highest honor to have John’s support in this race. Everyday that I serve the people of Virginia in the Senate, I aspire to realize his commitment to bipartisanship and putting people first, not partisan politics.

This is a big day for our campaign, but make no mistake about it: we have a long, hard-fought race ahead of us. The same hyper-partisan outside groups that spent a record amount of money in Virginia’s last US Senate election are poised to play the same role again.

Thank you so much for your support,

Mark Warner
