HSBC LAUNDERED MONEY FOR DRUG CARTELS AND TERRORIST STATES & GROUPS, SEE THE VIDEO OF SEN WARREN CONFRONTING THE SEC 10MAR13

SEN Elizabeth Warren D MA continues her questioning of SEC regulators on their unwillingness to shut down banks that blatantly violate the laws on money laundering for drug cartels and terrorist states and organizations. One of my Senator's, Tim Kaine D VA, also sits on the Senate Banking Committee, and it seems that is all he does, sit on the committee. I wish he had the moral courage Sen Warren does. Watch this video, and click the link to sign the petition calling on the SEC to bring these banks to trial. For more on this see my earlier post TO BIG TO JAIL? In a Senate hearing this week, Elizabeth Warren grilled a Treasury official about a major Wall Street bank (HSBC) that was caught laundering money for Al Quaeda and drug cartels -- repeatedly -- and only got a slap on the wrist.
In the video, it's clear that bank regulators aren't used to being told to go harder on the banks. We'll soon deliver your signature (and thousands of others) to the SEC demanding banks be brought to trial.
PCCC members can be proud that we worked so hard to elect Elizabeth Warren last year.
As you know, Warren previously grilled the top SEC official, who admitted they have no idea when they last took a bank to trial. This week, Warren underscored a core point:
"If you're caught with an ounce of cocaine, the chances are good that you're going to go to jail...but evidently if you launder nearly a billion dollars for drug cartels, your company pays a fine and you go home and sleep in your own bed at night. I think that's fundamentally wrong."
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
