Cutting Social Security benefits....chained cpi 8MAR13

I signed on as a citizen supporter of the Grayson-Takano letter in the US House a while ago, and I have e mailed my Rep, Gerry Connelly D VA a couple times. Today I called because of the e mail I received from the PCCC and the article By Richard Eskow in HuffPost

A President Who'll Cut Social Security - And Liberals Who Love Him Too Much 8MAR13 http://bucknacktssordidtawdryblog.blogspot.com/2013/03/a-president-wholl-cut-social-security.html

Make no mistake, the White House is putting Social Security benefit cuts on the table. President Obama told NBC, "As you know, one of the proposals we made was something called Chained CPI."
National Organization for Women leader Terry O'Neill explained the president's benefit cuts during a briefing for PCCC members this week.
"The Chained CPI [which cuts cost of living adjustments]... is a stealth cut in Social Security benefits. It would start reducing benefits for seniors immediately, and it would be particularly harsh for the most vulnerable of us which are very very disproportionately women." The Nation reports it would "cut Social Security benefits $1,000 per year."
Can you call Representative Gerald Connolly and ask him to sign on to the Grayson-Takano letter against Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefit cuts?
(Click here to listen to the national briefing, or download a podcast.)
Our momentum grew even bigger this week as PCCC members held local events at congressional offices across the nation.
They delivered the names of thousands of local endorsers of the letter in Congress by Reps. Alan Grayson (D-FL) and Mark Takano (D-CA), promising to "vote against any and every cut to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security benefits."
Events led by PCCC members have resulted in numerous Members of Congress joining our cause -- and our supporters in Congress have grown from 2 to 30 in recent weeks! Many offices have also held impromptu meetings with PCCC members!
Can you help our momentum grow by calling Rep. Connolly and asking him to sign on to the Grayson-Takano letter?
House Democrats are needed to pass any deal. Every new signature on this letter gives Nancy Pelosi leverage to go into the negotiating room and say, "We don't have the votes for benefit cuts." Please help make that happen.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
