Free Bradley. Tell General Linnington to drop the charge of 'aiding the enemy'. 19JAN12

AFTER a trial worthy of an authoritarian regime the US Army prosecutors have recommended Bradley Manning face a full court martial. There is no evidence Bradley Manning provided aid to the enemy. The information he is charged with leaking to Wikileaks proved to be embarrassing to the U.S. and other governments, and exposed war crimes committed by American troops in Iraq (Collateral Murder video, available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rXPrfnU3G0 or watch it below). He is being railroaded by the US Military "justice" system. Please participate in calling Gen Linnington and tell him the charge of 'aiding the enemy' be dropped, and share this action by the Bradley Manning Support Network with family and friends.

Free Bradley Manning. Tell General Linnington to drop the charge of 'aiding the enemy'

The Bradley Manning Support Network has just been notified that the recommendations made last week by Lt. Col. Paul Almanza, who presided over last month’s Article 32 hearing, have been passed up the chain of command by Col. Carl R. Coffman Jr. This means that even though prosecutors presented no concrete evidence that the leaked documents caused any harm, Lt. Col. Almanza, and now Col. Coffman, have decided that all charges against Bradley Manning — including the most odious charge of “aiding the enemy” — should be referred to a full military court-martial. All of the defense witnesses that would have shown that the leaks were embarrassing, not harmful, were blocked from testifying during the pretrial hearing. At this moment, the recommendations to bring all charges against Manning to court martial now sit on the desk of Major General Michael S. Linnington, who represents an entity known as the General Court-Martial Convening Authority. He has the final power to rubber stamp these recommendations, which would formally refer these charges and initiate the court-martial process.
We need you and everyone you know to call General Linnington right now at 202-685-2807.
If the general’s staff are not answering their phone, please call the DoD as FireDogLake is asking their supporters to do.
"We’re calling the Department of Defense to demand they drop the “aiding the enemy” against Manning. To make your voice heard:
1. Dial 703-571-3343
2. Press 5 to leave a comment
* If the mailbox is full, leave a written comment for the DOD here: https://kb.defense.gov/app/ask/session/"
Tell him that we’re watching him. Tell him to drop the charge of “aiding the enemy” and allow the defense team access to the critical evidence and testimony that they have so far been denied. Tell the military to stop preventing consideration of evidence which shows that these WikiLeaks revelations were never a threat to our national security. Tell them to stop the show trial.

Military refers all charges against Bradley Manning to court martial

WASHINGTON, DC — Military officers orchestrating proceedings against PFC Bradley Manning have referred all charges that were considered during last month’s Article 32 proceedings to a general court martial. Investigating officer Lt. Col. Paul Almanza rejected a request from lead defense counsel David Coombs to consolidate the 22 charges into three charges, expressing concerns that the military is over-charging PFC Manning.
“We’re disappointed but by no means surprised,” said Jeff Paterson, a lead organizer for the Bradley Manning Support Network. “The investigating officer showed no concern for the conflict of interest caused by his dual employment with the Justice Department, or the taint of bias arising from his commander-in-chief, President Obama, who publicly declared Manning to be guilty long before he ever had his day in court.”

Supporters erect Washington DC billboard ahead of pending trial announcement

Supporters of PFC Bradley Manning have erected a billboard in Washington, DC as the accused WikiLeaks whistle-blower awaits an announcement about the military’s plans for his trial at nearby Fort Meade, Maryland. The billboard, which reads, “Free Bradley Manning: Blowing the whistle on war crimes is not a crime” is located on the route to downtown Washington from Fort Meade, near 1240 New York Ave NE. Supporters have displayed similar billboards in the Kansas City area, where Manning had been held at Fort Leavenworth.
PFC Bradley Manning is awaiting a recommendation from investigating officer Lt. Col. Paul Almanza as to which charges the military will refer to a full trial. His legal team expects this announcement to come before January 16, with the actual trial date to be set at some point several weeks later. PFC Manning’s attorneys have requested that the over two dozen charges against the accused whistle-blower be reduced to only three charges that would be considered at trial.
